Default Today's Peeve Of The Day, Monday 24th October.

Good morning peevers and welcome to the new week.

We're having the hall landing and stairs redecorated soon but before that I want four new doors installed. Unfortunately the carpenter may not be able to do the work so I may have to find another one. The trouble is that often when you are looking to remodel a home there is a chain of people required to finish the job and if one link goes missing it has a knock-on effect.

Today's peeve;

'One link in a chain' creating problems along the line.

You need a "Jack of all Expertizes: No such animal! Everyone does his or her little thing.. I can remember doing my job along with others so another wasn't required... Everyone these days have a narrowly defined job. Sad but true!

'One link in a chain' creating problems along the line.

Very frustrating indeed. Lots of times now businesses here will have a few different subtrades working for them to help the chain keep moving. Seems to work very well. One thing I have learned about construction is that nothing gets completed on time for a variety of different reasons--and some of them are very good reasons. Good peeve Jezer.

If the carpenter can't do it I'll do it myself. Actually, I'd not call a carpenter to hang doors. It's not that difficult when done correctly and there are instructions and videos on the web.

how to hang a door - YouTube

Pick a video from over 41,000...

Absolutely!! I can totally relate to that. The electricians cant rough a house till the a/c guys get their duct work in (theyve been known to cut our wires if they get in the way) yet some a/c guys have to wait for the plumbers to finish their job so they can route their stuff accordingly....and if framing isnt done, well join the list of wait-ees....

Agree. But I had to chuckle, you calling it the "knock-on effect".

It bothers me to have to pay anyone for anything when it comes to some sort of service that carries some level of satisfaction attached to it!

I mean really give me a break!
