I turn on my custom rear window LED that shines the brightness of 10,000 suns.

LOL at the responses, but have your ever thought of what the tailgater may do when you slow down.

My buddy did the same thing you guys did (Compression breaking, tapping the breaks) except once the tailgater passed him he pulled the emergency brake and my buddy rear ended him.

He was sued by the tailgater and his insurance skyrocketed because of this tailgater

After I heard that I just move over if I can, some people are just too crazy

I don't slow down, just tap the breaks lightly so the tail lights go on and scare the tailgater. If he wants to drive up against my butt I am not going to make it easy for him.

And in my experience these tailgater folks are just bad drivers, not necessarily trying to get the guy ahead of them to go faster but just bad drivers who hug the car ahead of them. A friend of mine drives this way, they have no problem being 2 feet from the car ahead of them while going 75 on the parkway! Just a bad driver!

There's a guy on this forum who can help your friends. I won't say his name but it rhymes with LIMA.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I've been tailgated. I guess, where possible, I would move over and let them fly by like a bat out of hell. I don't need to be in front of everyone else. It's not like I'm waiting in line at a store and someone tries to cut me. They can "cut in front of the line" all they want out on the roads if they are that desperate to get by.

Then there is always Grandma Driving....slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down, speed up...

They usually get so frustrated they will get off your tail and go after someone else.

As one poster already mentioned, it is unbelievable when you are on a multi-lane road, all alone, and someone will tailgate. It's usually because they are such poor drivers that they don't realize they can pass you and make their upcoming right turn with no problem. Either that or they are so blown out drunk.
