alphamale, I did not know men had stopped being men. I thought that most were still drinking beer, watching sports on TV and scratching crotches. But I haven't done much mingling the last decade so it's an assumption. I haven't kept a man in the home for a long time. I had to choose between the toilet lid up and a drowned cat or a closed lid and safe cat. I chose the cat. That's humor so just enjoy. However, I did learn something from men that I hope does not put me on your less womanly list. When sitting all comfy with feet up and no pillow or arm rest to support my arms, I discovered that it's quite comfortable to tuck my fingers in the waist band to rest the arms.

As I run errands I'll be watching for a shortage of manly men.

Hey guys, what's up with the severe eyebrow shaping? I'm sure all of you can't be moonlighting as female impersonators.

LOL.... Okay, I'm back.....gotta comment on this one. Although I think the overly shaped brows are a bit overkill, I am NOT against men trimming their eyebrow hairs, once it starts looking like they've got a small kitten attached to their foreheads. Nor am I against guys removing a few hairs in the middle, so that they appear to have TWO eyebrows, instead of one.

When we lost John Wayne and Steve McQueen and the rest of the Greatest Generation and they started putting men as weak kneed sissies in commercials.

This is true. The gender roles are being revised by the powers that be. If you look at tv shows, movies, music, etc you can see a pattern. Like you stated, "Women have become less feminine and men have become less masculine." On the other side, you have the male stereotype propaganda of sports, beer, porn, & fighting.

A man and woman should make and walk his/her own path. The issue is that there are so many people or influences telling us how we should be, act, etc. Life should be an empty canvas that you create your life. Sadly, as soon as we are born, a significant portion of life is already engraved due our race, gender, religion, birthplace, economic situation,

Mook, that was their movie persona, not reality. Think of all the movie stars that played hero's in the war that were never in the service, they were playing a role, that's it. Perhaps the commercials have changed because of womens nagging men were not sensitive enough. TV also transformed men from a "Father Knows Best" type image, where men were respected and admired by their family to the "Married with Children" clown, moron husband and father image. That doesn't mean that is reality in every home. As far as selling products, they broaden the product line for the target market. Great line BlkGiraffe...lol

So chewy vitamins make men wimps? Some people have trouble swallowing pills, sometimes vitamins tend to hurts ones stomach, especially if taken on an empty stomach. Flintstones chewables are ok for kids, but a chewable vitamin for men and Dove soap expanding their line to attract more male buyers makes us wimps? Oh come now

I prefer a man's man, but I don't mind a man that takes extra care of his appearance either.

As long as he can still take care of business when it counts......... , I don't care what he plucks, shaves, buffs, or preens.

This has turned into a real interesting thread since I left it last night to go to bed in my
cave!! The comment about men being made to look stupid in TV adverts is true. I've
noticed that. Also women being less feminine today also. It's strange, men are more girlie
today, and girls are less so!! I used to go to the island of Rhodes in Greece every year, to a
village called Afandou. One year, Judy and I got friendly with a couple from South Africa. I
found his wife fascinating, she was so old fashioned feminine. She was like something from
the 50s. The way she dressed, her hair, how she walked, talked, even the way she moved
her head. She really stood out, where, I guess 50 years ago there was lots of women like her. I know times have changed, and young women today are very different, but, even now, when I hear a woman swear, it ma

I nearly made it!! It just did'nt send the last few words!! The end was, even now, when I
hear a woman swear it makes me cringe. I guess things are evolving and changing all the
time. In some ways things are better for women now. I know the golden age of mum at
home bringing up the kids was'nt so golden for many of the women doing it. But, we have
lost something along the way. I think men are now unsure of their role, and how to behave.
The old strong silent man has bit the dust, if in fact, he really existed at all, or was it just an
image in movies.
