YaaaaaaaaY it's early and a very merry Monday morning to allyall
In my neck of the woods boots are more of a fashion statement than a weather necessity. In my opinion cowboy boots are mighty comfortable and I like em...
I don't think I need any extra time, but I hope everything works out well...
The next time I see someone blocking my driveway I wish I could egg their car.
Good Monday morning, all, and welcome to another busy week! It’s the final week of shopping before the holidays descend yet again, and I’m sure there are some panicky folks out there scrambling to find something for those last few names on the list. I am deeply grateful not to be working in retail at this point in the year, and I hope that those of our QOTD family who do work in that field have easy shifts and friendly customers all week long.
But before we head into the week, let’s take a few moments together to consider:
Today’s Question(s):
Here in the Midwest, we’re getting out the winter gear to have in readiness for the season’s first big snowstorm (whenever that happens), and that made me wonder how many of the following types of footgear do you own:
Snow boots? xxxx
Rain boots?
Gardening boots?
Mucking-out boots?
Cowboy boots?
Fashion boots? still have two pairs but haven't worn them in years and probably won't. I should give them to the thrift store so someone else can wear them.
Other boots?
Bonus Question:
Since so many folks are scrambling to get things done this week, Tina the Time-Warp Fairy is stopping by for a visit! She’s going to give you an extra six hours in your day today, to do with as you please. How will you spend your unexpected extra time today?
Baking, last minute shopping, installing new hard drive and installing Windows 7 (been putting off this last because I'm a little scared I will do something wrong and blow up my computer.)
Extra Credit Question:
Man, the next time I see someone defecating on a police car I wish I could just kick his naked butt around the block and smear his nose in his own poop.
Just for Fun:
What is the ringtone on your cell phone? What cell phone? Don't have one.
Why did you choose that particular ringtone?
Today In History: 1606 – The Susan Constant, the Godspeed and the Discovery depart England, carrying the settlers who founded, at Jamestown, Virginia, the first of the thirteen colonies that became the United States One wonders why the Pilgrims in MA have gotten all the historical glory--they weren't the first. 1777 – George Washington’s Continental Army goes into winter quarters at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania People today have absolutely NO comprehension of what those who fought for independence went through to get it for us. 1907 – 239 coal miners die in a mine explosion in Jacobs Creek, Pennsylvania A sad fact about mining--it's a very dangerous occupation. 1924 – The last Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost is sold in London, England 1941 – Adolf Hitler becomes Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the German Army The German people were between a rock and a hard place--Stalin encroaching from the east, spreading the tentacles of Communist domination, and Hitler was seen as a savior to prevent it. 1955 – Singer Carl Perkins records “Blue Suede Shoes” And Elvis made it famous. 1971 – The Homecoming: A Christmas Story, the pilot movie for the hit series The Waltons, airs for the first time I wish we still had family shows like this one. 1972 – Apollo 17, the last manned lunar flight, crewed by Eugene Cerna, Ron Evans and Harrison Schmitt, returns to Earth 1984 – Wayne Gretzky, age 23, becomes the youngest NHL player to reach 1,000 points A brutal sport, along with boxing.
