I ended up looking after a load of ducks when I was in the army! Someone had the
bright idea to breed ducks to feed the men. Somehow I ended up being responsible
for feeding them. I would get leftovers from the canteen in, as I remember a large
aluminium dish. I would go behind the guardroom where a hut had been put where
these ducks lived. There was a small wire fence around their living area. As I stepped
over it, with their dish of food, they would spot me and all come running as fast they
could for their food. If it rained hard we discovered the babies would die, which seems
silly, but hard rain killed the youngsters. I ended up running down there when it rained
getting the ducklings out the rain. Anyway, they got real big on the good army food.
Trouble was no one had the heart to kill them to eat. When I left the army, there
was an army of the ducks. Don't know what happened to them!

Ducks are omnivorous, opportunistic eaters.

They will eat grass, aquatic plants, insects, seeds, fruit, fish, crustaceans and other types of food.
Is that the Aflack duck after a disgruntled customer.

When I was staying in France, I had one try to take a bite out of my backend.

Not a fan since then...
