Smile Today's Tip ~ Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012

Hello friends....it's time for Today's Tip and I am here, a mere rooster in the night, to scratch one up just for you! .............~rainroosty~.........

'Tis January, and many areas are warmer than usual; the weather has somewhat gone awry...but there is still something very wonderful that you can do. Something that is quite fun, should you give it the chance.

It is at this time of year that you will find much of the plants and flowers, grasses and foliage in their dry state; how beautiful they are, but yet so few take notice. Dried seed pods, wilted leaves and stems, beautiful, graceful flowers, withering away with a whole new palette of earthy colors!

I do remember so may days spent walking through the cool air, with my collecting bag, adding to it as I walked...looking at the dried growth that prior-to had gone unnoticed. Stopping to carefully pick each specimen in just the right way...to gather it for my magical arrangements that were to come very soon.

Gather all the treasures you wish to find; they are there! Bring your camera if you wish!

Bring them back home...enjoy something to eat and drink, and then take out all your treasures and spread them out to see. You can put these
delicate wonders in vase, can or any container, to display for as long as you like. They last for years and are so surprisingly pleasant to have around...and they are different - they are the beauty of winter!

Well that sure is a marvelous idea! You two could have a real good time in the outdoors together collecting whatever you can find and then maybe putting it together at home...I like how the stuff you can arrange lasts for years & years. Free fun and free cool stuff!

That it is, Nomad! It really is even more fun than it sounds, trust me! I think I'll take my wife out to do this on her next weekend off work.
She's never done anything like it ever.

Anyone that even gives this a try would be surprised at what's to be found outside....it really goes unnoticed.

Love the tips Roosty!

We have a Botanical Gardens nearby so will have to take the kiddos to go see nature at it's finest, especially during the winter months here!

Great pics! I love dried flowers and have lots of them. I've never been near a place to go out finding them. But when I receive live flower arrangements, I hang them upside down to dry before they get wilted.
