Default Today's Question Sunday, 11 March 2012

Good Sunday morning, all! And a very spring-like day it is here in south-central Wisconsin – we’re expecting to get up over 60 degrees today. The buds on the maples are red, the forsythia branches are showing hints of green and yellow, and as I brush away the winter’s accumulation of dead leaves and debris from the garden bed, I find the first green shoots of crocus and daffodil emerging from the dirt. I love this time of year!

But before I go play in the garden some more, let’s take a few moments to talk together about:

Today’s Question(s):

It’s Spring Forward Day! Did you move your clocks ahead:
Saturday evening?
Sunday morning?
Still working on it?
Time change – huh?? What time change?

How long does it take you to get used to the time change each spring and fall?

Extra Credit Question:

When was the last time you read a newspaper?

What newspaper was it?

Do you subscribe to any newspaper?

Why, or why not?

Bonus Question:

Do you like your potatoes best:
Boiled?
Baked?
Mashed?
Twice-baked?
Scalloped?
Au gratin?
French-fried?
Home-fried?
Hash-browned?
Other?

Just For Fun:

What was your last totally unexpected splurge?

Was it worthwhile?

We'll be turning our clocks back an hour (ready for autumn/winter) in a couple of weeks - not sure exactly when.

How long does it take you to get used to the time change each spring and fall?
Usually just a couple of days.

Extra Credit Question:

When was the last time you read a newspaper?
Friday, just a cursory scan.

What newspaper was it?
The free local weekly paper.

Do you subscribe to any newspaper?
Nope

Why, or why not?
I can read all the news I want on the internet!

Bonus Question:

Do you like your potatoes best:
Boiled?

Yum
Mashed?
Twice-baked?
Scalloped?

Au gratin?

Just For Fun:

What was your last totally unexpected splurge?
I bought a wii console, with a view to maybe getting a little exercise with some of the games!

Was it worthwhile?
I think it will be more fun when daughter and her partner (or other friends) are here - it's a bit boring to do on your own! So I'm reserving judgement on whether or not it's worthwhile.

Thanks Bookworm.

Happy Sunday to all.

Either or. I haven't done it yet.

No adjustment for me getting used to it.

Tuesday. Sometimes I buy one but not often. I subscribed to The Washington Post for 30+ years but when I moved here 4 years ago I had to cancel due to very poor service. I was surprised as bad as newspapers need subscribers that the Post just let me go as a customer. They didn't care when I told them how undependable the delivery was.

Time change – huh?? What time change?

I was going to say it is a work in progress, but I have not even started. Seeing how I am 10 time zones from home there is little chance the clocks will get changed before Tuesday.

How long does it take you to get used to the time change each spring and fall?
Usually a day or two. My biggest headache from this is work. I work on Coordinated Universal Time and am always having to convert between UTC and local time.

Extra Credit Question:

When was the last time you read a newspaper?
has been a long time. Maybe a couple months.

What newspaper was it?
USA Today or something like that. It is the paper hotels give out.

Do you subscribe to any newspaper?
Not for a few years now.

Why, or why not?
I will go with the fact I am gone more than I am home. Also our local newspaper has really gone downhill over the past few years.

Bonus Question:

Do you like your potatoes best:
Boiled?
Baked?
Mashed?
Twice-baked?
Scalloped?
Au gratin?
French-fried?
Home-fried?
Hash-browned?
Other?
Yes to all above

Just For Fun:

What was your last totally unexpected splurge?
Going on vacation last month.

Was it worthwhile?

I spent way too much, but it was worth it. I had not taken a real vacation in probably 7 or 8 years.

Today’s Question(s):

It’s Spring Forward Day! Did you move your clocks ahead:
Saturday evening?
Sunday morning?
Still working on it?
Time change – huh?? What time change? We never change time, though I did move one clock from one side of the desk to the other side.

How long does it take you to get used to the time change each spring and fall? AZ does not recognize DST.

Extra Credit Question:

When was the last time you read a newspaper? Today.

What newspaper was it? The AZ Republic and the local Daily News.

Do you subscribe to any newspaper? Yes to both ^^.

Why, or why not? We like to read the local news articles and the extended coverage of the State and National news. Then there are the articles on what local people are doing and their events. Plus we like the local ad deals and program announcements that are not on the internet. And I've always liked reading the paper first thing in the morning while enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Then there are the puzzles to stimulate the mind.

Bonus Question:

Do you like your potatoes best:
Boiled?
Baked?
Mashed?
Twice-baked?
Scalloped?
Au gratin?
French-fried?
Home-fried?
Hash-browned?
Other? All the above. I love 'em cooked all ways.

Just For Fun:

What was your last totally unexpected splurge? Chinese dinner yesterday, splurged and went out to dinner. 我们食用了食物主要和糖醋猪肉。

Was it worthwhile? Yes.

Sunday, relax and enjoy, it's gorgeous out here, we'll enjoy it for sure...

Today’s Question(s):

It’s Spring Forward Day! Did you move your clocks ahead:

Still working on it

The computer does it, itself. Have to do the other clocks and my watch.

How long does it take you to get used to the time change each spring and fall?

No time. I'm up with the birds.

Extra Credit Question:

When was the last time you read a newspaper?

Online newspapers? Yesterday. I read several a day. .

Paper newspaper? Maybe 6 months ago.

What newspaper was it?

Last one read online - The Washington Times

Do you subscribe to any newspaper?

Paper newspapers? No

Online newspapers: I am subscribed to some newspapers that send me daily e-mails with their Top Stories links. I then follow the links on those stories to their newspaper website. I also get e-mail alerts on several different subjects and Google send me links to newspapers around the world where those subjects have stories that day. For example: Medicare Any newspaper that does a story on medicare that day, I get a link to the story. Spend about 1.5 - 2 hrs per day on various news websites.

Why, or why not?

Paper newspapers: don't want the extra trash after it's read. Also, need links and cut and paste ability for posting in political forums for sharing/substantiating purposes so prefer news online. Also, If I want to read a story about a tornado in Mississippi I want to read a Mississippi newspaper not some Tennessee or national newspaper. If I want to read a story about Governor Rick Perry in Texas, I don't want to hope to read some Tennessee story or just some story in the Washington Post/Wall Street Journal. I want to read newspapers in Texas. That's why I prefer online newspapers.

Bonus Question:

Do you like your potatoes best:
Boiled?
Baked?
Mashed?
Twice-baked?
Scalloped?
Au gratin?
French-fried?
Home-fried?
Hash-browned?
Other?

Favorite potato application: German potato salad

Just For Fun:

What was your last totally unexpected splurge?

Pre-ordered a camera

Was it worthwhile?

Don't know. It hasn't been released yet.
