It’s just one of those days when you’re out to enjoy a meal at the restaurant and things happen. Little things like you want coffee with cream, and the only creamers are those little individual serving sizes. So you start the process and try to open it by removing the foil cover to dump the cream into your coffee. For some reason it isn’t working, and you can’t get it started, each time you find a corner of the foil to peel back to get to the contents it breaks or won’t open. You try the other side and the same thing occurs.
There is no end to this nightmare,,,, if not the creamers it’s the small jelly tubes or the cups of butter. For some reason these individual serving sizes just can’t be opened by customers.
Companies don’t make easy to open packaging for some reason. Why?
The days of condiments in a restaurant or mini marts are over. All because too many people (jerks!) were tampering with sugar, salt shakers, creamers, etc. Now they have to come in safety-seal packages and I hate them too but we can thank the prankers for that.
I thought every one carries a little pocket knife!!! Stab everything open, like I do!
I take my teeth and make a small whole in the bottom of the creamer..then hold it about a foot over my coffee and squeeze it...I call it my milking the cow joke..try it...it always gets a laugh.
I was having that same problem last night with a little pudding cup. I couldn't get a good enough hold on that flap part to open it, it was very aggravating.
NO JOKE! I have no idea why they make them like that. Then, if you don't get the lid coming off just right, then only half of it comes off and you have to start all over with the other side. (I happen to eat a lot of these.)

It is aggravating. At least with the jelly and butter it doesn't splash on your clothing when you finally succeed. Opening a cup of yogurt for lunch at work is a good way to get yogurt all over.

At a restaurant table if nothing else available a starter hole with a fork prong might work. Such as the little creamer containers, punch a hole then squeeze out and just maybe it won't splash out on you when creating the hole.

I didn't know the lock blade knives are completely banned in Texas. They are certainly not allowed at any airport along with any other kind.
Slightly off topic, but in the ballpark!! The first time I visited America, I went in McDonalds in New York City. I ordered my food, and a coffee. Now, I did'nt know Americans called those little milk containers 'cream'. I call it milk. So, I asked the server for some milk for my coffee, meaning a couple of the little containers. The server just looked at me and said "whaddaya mean, milk, just cause you're English, you expect milk in a nice little jug?"

Nothing personal, Dave. That was merely NYC style charm!
A pen knife solves a lot of those kinds of problems. I carry a little case in my purse that contains a small pair of scissors, a small pen knife, a nail file, large safety pen, small tape measure, a couple of Band-Aids and a little magnifying glass. I refer to my purse as my "tool pouch".
