What was the funniest cooking experience you ever had?
Well it's not really funny but when I was in my 20s I spilled boiled spinach on my thigh (was wearing shorts) and it left a big burn that looked like an amoeba. Burn not funny. Shape of burn very funny.

Okay, I was in a crowded Los Angeles area Mexican restaurant in the late 90s with a bunch of friends from different states when all of a sudden the man at the next table started to sing at the top of his lungs a very nice song in Spanish. He was there with what appeared to be his adult children, their spouses, and his wife. All of a sudden the woman (she was not hispanic but was married to one) sitting next to me, who was with our group and who did not know him, decides to sing along with him in Spanish. Both of them, both good singers, together, belted out a very nice ballad together for the entire restaurant. The whole restaurant gave them a big hand and then everyone went back to eating like nothing happened. I liked it.

What is the most important thing you’ve ever lost?
I lose everything and have since I was a kid. One of the reasons I have a land line is so I can call my cell phone to find where I put it down. When I was a kid around 9 or 10, I lost my girl scout wallet and the man who found it dropped it off at my house. Also as a younger kid, I lost the shoes I was wearing that day. Never recovered them. I've lost a credit card twice. Once I found it in my car under the passenger seat and another time I found it on the bathroom sink, in the bathroom I don't use but where I charge my camera batteries (both times found them after I had the cards replaced)...BUT, I never lost an H-bomb...yet.
Did you find it?
I'd say about 75 percent of the time I eventually find what I've lost.
Just for Fun
What age did you enjoy the most?
I'll go with 19.
What made it so enjoyable?
It was an exciting time of my life, living away from home, single, healthy and in DC where I met a lot of people and a ton of things were happening.
What age did you not like so much?
Why?
I wasn't fond of 40, the hump year of life, in my opinion.
What was the funniest cooking experience you ever had?
It was not me but the cook where I worked as a dishwasher one summer. He thought he was the greatest cook of all time. As we were cleaning up for the night he started preparing the soup for the next day. He decided to make onion soup. Not having any fresh onions he used dehydrated onions. He filled the stock pot almost full and topped it off with water. It was not long before he figured out he had used enough onions for about a hundred gallons of soup.

The State of Alaska had just gotten a new ferry which I got to ride on it's maiden voyage. A few things still needed correcting on the ferry. One of them was causing a rather major vibration at the back of the ship, which is where the dining room was located. The dishes on all of the tables kept falling off the tables due to the vibration.

What is the most important thing you’ve ever lost? I lost two whole days last month. I was at the bank and the teller told me to enjoy the rest of the weekend. I looked at her and said it was only Thursday. She insisted it was Saturday. I looked at the calendar on my phone only to find it really was Saturday.
Did you find it?
I think those two days are gone forever.
Just for Fun
What age did you enjoy the most? Late teens thru early thirties.
What made it so enjoyable?
Things were simple then.
What age did you not like so much?
When I was 6 and 7
Why?
I was sick the whole time. I was stuck inside the house watching all the other kids playing outside. 6 years of age was a rotton time to find out I did not have any true friends.

What was the funniest cooking experience you ever had? I was in school, aged about 13, in a cookery class making a cake. We laid out all the ingredients we'd brought (from home) on the table. One of my eggs rolled off, splat on the floor. Okay, no biggie. Then we had to measure some sugar into a bowl, but my sugar had become lumpy and the whole lot fell out of the paper packet, all over the bowl, the table and the floor. Then, when the cake was cooked (in two pans) I took it out of the oven and balanced them on top of the stove which already had a couple of saucepans on it... then someone brushed by me and I knocked both pans onto the floor. Upside down of course. The teacher didn't think it was funny, but we kids did!

when you’ve been out at a restaurant? Too many funny and/or strange restaurant experiences to mention, but the most time was when I had just started a new job (aged about 24) and was invited as a last minute addition to lunch with my boss and three of his new clients. So we were five at a table for four, and I was perched rather perilously on the corner. I was most impressed that I'd been invited and was determined to show my boss that I was a worthy participant in the business lunch. Our meals came, and as I used a knife to cut my meat, there was not enough plate on the table corner, and the whole lot - plate and food - landed in my lap!

What is the most important thing you’ve ever lost? I've lived for quite a long time and have therefore lost quite a lot of stuff over the years ... most of which I no longer remember so they weren't very important in the overall scheme of things. However, I DO remember losing ALL of my 45rpm records when moving from one house to another while living in London in the late 60's. I was heartbroken then, and have missed those records ever since!
Did you find it? Nope - I figured I must have left them in the taxi. (In those days, I didn't have enough stuff to need a moving van)!
Just for Fun
What age did you enjoy the most? The ages between 18 and about 23.
What made it so enjoyable? I'd left home, was living in London, having a lot of fun with good friends and had a great job. Then, at 21, I emigrated to Australia, found another great job, and had more fun with some new friends and some I'd known in London who had also come to Australia.
What age did you not like so much? My late forties I guess.
Why? I was working 7 days a week for the most part, my daughter was away at university, and my friends either lived far away or were equally caught up in their careers.
What was the funniest cooking experience you ever had? Back in the mid or late 90s, I attended a church baptism at my friends' condo complex. My friend needed a couple of people to help cook lots of hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone. He "volunteered" me to cook, along with another guy. So the three of us were standing at these barbecue grills cooking up a storm! There must have been about 30-40 people there, and I've never cooked for that big of a gathering before. It was fun, though!

when you’ve been out at a restaurant? Long time ago at a Farrell's restaurant, the guys who were carrying a Zoo were running around the place with all the lights flashing, sirens blaring and drums beating. They rounded a corner and one of the guys tripped and the others let go of the Zoo, which fell upside-down on the floor (LOTS of ice cream wasted). There was a collective GASP throughout the entire place!

Why? Family life was rather unsettled back then. I had to quit school and work full-time. But, I survived it, thank God!

What’s the funniest, strangest or just plain thing that’s ever happened
when you’ve been out at a restaurant?
~ I guess that would be back in my teens. A whole bunch of us were in a pizzeria and I was sitting at the end of a long table, by the wall. I reached up with my lighter and lit up the real big moose head hanging on the wall. It could have been an elk head. Anyway, the whole thing did a fast flash & burn in just a second or two. It stunk. It was hilarious, to us.

All 35mm....beautiful. In fact, by far the best photo's of the Plasmatics that anyone has ever seen. Spectacular.

No House Work Day wow an excuse... thanks
Looks like no folding laundry, dishes or general picking up..... many thanks for pointing out. I think I will post this on a yellow sticky and plaster it on the fridge.
Housework really is a never ever ever ending chore. albeit a clean house is nice to be in.
What was the funniest cooking experience you ever had?
My french teacher was also a friend and neighbor. On weekends some of us would go to her home & cook with her. One weekend she decided we should learn to flip crepes & they ended up draped all over her kitchen. I remember standing on the kitchen table trying to peel one off the ceiling.

when you’ve been out at a restaurant? Early married years, before kids. We were out with several other couples, some of the guys had had several drinks. One of them bent down to pick up what he thought was his napkin under the table. It wasn't a napkin, but a piece of flatbread he'd dropped. Another guy started laughing so hard he fell over backward in his chair. It's a good thing they both left good tips or we probably would have been banned from that place forever.

What age did you enjoy the most? Hmm.... Looking back, I don't know that I can choose one age. Growing up we had the woods and fields to play in, lots of carefree days. Teenage years, friends... learning to drive.... College years I loved..... Years when my daughters were young.... I can't choose.
What age did you not like so much? Mid 40s, divorcing. It was my choice and my daughters held it against me for a long time. Their dad didn't visit or spend much time with them & they didn't see, at the time, that that was his choice, not mine.
Thanks for the questions, Joy. Have a good day, all!
