Not sure exactly why but greeting cards have quadrupled in price over that past couple of decades. Come to think of it, toilet paper and paper towels have gone up a lot, too, and just in the past few years.
Speaking of paper, if you look at a lot of brands...name brands, you can see some rolls of tp and paper towels are actually shorter in width too, and dont fit the regular type of holders!
I agree some of the prices on cards have gone up to the point of craziness however I too like the .99 cent cards just as well. They don’t always have the best of messages written in them however they do have something nice to say and it’s important to send cards to others.
Mrs. Aks says that “just when you think that you don’t need to send any card to that old aunt or uncle because they probably don’t remember you much anyway”; “you have to remember that your card may be the only card that they received.” You need to remember their birthday or special event, not everyone else will.
I agree card prices are crazy that's why I go to Dollar Tree or Dollar General for the 2/$1.00 or $1.00 each. They are just a nice as the ones that I have paid $4.00-$5.00 for.
I know how much it means to receive cards during trying times so I try to be good at sending them out to others. Also the elderly love to get cards.........it's a nice way to show them you are thinking of them.
Unfortunately, I end up buying those music ones for the grandkids costing over $5 a piece. I also got one of those for my parents this year.
Between the cards and extra postage, it cost $30...just for CARDS!

LoL!!!
Mr. Sweetie the cheapskate bought me a music card for my birthday last year. I swear we had it up on permanent display for months. He & the 3 y.o. really got a kick out of it.....gee wonder what happened to it???
Forever oblivious to holidays, dumb me didn't even realize it was Easter today until a friend called and cheerfully said: Happy Easter!
I haven't sent out cards in, not years, decades! And after this long hiatus, I'd be afraid to startle a relative or friend with one, as they'd spend the rest of the day staring, with bewilderment, at the return address and name!
