BBC News - Women soaked in Hungary's annual water throwing ritual
Isn't throwing water at people done to celebrate John The Baptist day and throwing raw eggs for easter? Oh well...thanks JJ!

It does beat the heck out of cracking open a colored egg when it comes to excitement.

A wet costume party!

Seriously, it sounds pretty silly to me. Those traditional dresses probably cost a small fortune and countless hours to make. I'd hate to see what water does to them.

While I was traveling to La Paz, Bolivia, back in 1985, I didn't realize, until I got hit with water, and seeing the water on the streets, I had run smackdab into some kind of holiday celebration/ritual where they threw water from the tops of building, and balconies, at the pedestrians below.

But after I found a good hiding place, it was fun to watch!
