Back in the day - twenty buck in your pocket gave you a sense of security...now that twenty bucks generates stress and worry because we know it is worthless...money used to be a pleasure to have - now it is a constant burden...that instead of frees ...enslaves...MONEY was fun stuff...now it has gotten ugly.
When every larger town had a multifloor department store downtown that had most everything, elevators, and people that ran them.
When people mocked stuff.. Made in Japan, and labeled it as junk.
When kids were drafted to Viet Nam. We haven't learned much about senseless wars since then.
When they didn't knock down beautiful old buildings just to to replace it with a vertical ice cube tray looking building, or to make a parking lot.

20 bucks sure doesn't buy what it once did, its a stress to only have that much in your pocket these days. At least to some degree its the choices one has made that has enslaved them, i.e. huge mortgages, credit cards, and like that. That's my take on it.
You went to the movies and you got 3 back to back for one price. The same movies were at the theater for a month.
Popcorn with real butter was 25 cents a tub
Gas was 7 cents a gallon at Sinclair
Penny candy (you got 2 pieces for a penny)
Big Ben shoe stores sold real leather shoes 2 pair for $5
You knew all of your neighbors
Children were allowed to be children and enjoyed their childhood
Being pregnant before marriage was a disgrace
Teen pregnancy was virtually unheard of
