Great tip, PJ! I never keep anything long enough to refurbish knobs but always keep Vaseline in the cabinet along with my herbal creams and ointments.

That might help.

Liquid black shoe polish does not work well...

Paste black shoe polish works a bit better...

There is a cleaning kit with mild abrasive and then a clear coating... Check your auto supply store....

See this shiny nose? Vet recommended Vaseline!...

LOL.. fingers keep slipping off isn't too bad, I waited way too long to use the Vaseline on the plastic knobs with my electronic components, they're breaking apart.... Now I have shiny broken knobs all over the carpet..
