Today's Question:
Have you ever served on a jury? No - I was called up for jury service once, but since I was a single mother running a business I was let off the hook.
If so, anything memorable about it that you'd like to tell us?
If not, would you want to be on a jury? I wouldn't mind. I think it would be quite an interesting experience and I have no other obligations these days, so why not!
Bonus Question:
Once upon a time, people didn't leave home with an uncovered head.
What kind of hats do you wear or have you worn? I find it hard to wear hats unless they have chin elastic LOL. My hair is too thick and bouncy to keep a hat on - hence I haven't worn one since I was at school when it was part of the uniform, together with trusty chin strap.
Foodie Question:
How do you feel about garlic in your food?
-Load it up!
-Some, but not too much.
-Just a little
-No thanks!
I love garlic, but different amounts depending on the dish.
What's your favorite dish or food with garlic? Almost anything that contains pasta.
Just for fun:
Every family has unique words that no one else uses.
What are some of your family's words?
Mockleys are tomatoes; An Eebuboh is a bridge ("here we go"), a Hosfull is a hospital, and a Liggida is a cigarette. There are others, but I don't recall them for the moment.
How did the words (or phrases) come about? Some possibilities: a child trying to pronounce words, a term of affection, many other possibilities. Childhood pronunciations.
Thanks bjh. Great photo (been there but not at that elevation!)
Happy Thursday to all.

Thanks, BJH! Hi everybody! Today I have to decided to not just wipe out the history and word parts of the QOTDs, but to also wipe out the annoying underlined text that all QOTDs have.
Have you ever served on a jury?
~ Nope. I've done jury duty, but was not selected.
If so, anything memorable about it that you'd like to tell us?
~ Jury duty, here where I live, is like going to the movies!
If not, would you want to be on a jury?
~ Yeah, but not on a long trial. A one or two dayer would be okay.
Once upon a time, people didn't leave home with an uncovered head.
~ Oh, bullsh**. Yes they did. That's hogwash and the only hog around here is me.
What kind of hats do you wear or have you worn?
~ Once upon a time I was on a very large jobsite in Palm Beach. It was the home of Conrad Black and wife, Ariel. Well, lunchtime came around and all the workers gathered in the garage to eat their lunches, since it was raining and lightning was striking all around us.
Well, me being rainroosty - who loves the rain and storms - well I opened my lunch cooler, in the garage, and unwrapped my big sandwich of it's heavy wrap of aluminum foil.
I proceeded to make me a full sized skull cap, pressing it to mould it nicely to the shape of my head, covering my head right down to my ears, and I fashioned a really nice pointed spire on it's top.
Anyway, after doing that I took my lunch cooler and my sandwich about 10 - 15 feet outside of the garage, in the driveway, in the pouring rain and lightning and sat on my lunch cooler and was eating my sandwich, happily.
Well....all the men on the jobsite liked it fine, and they were not so awfully surprised - after all, they all knew me pretty well. (They used to call me rainroosty.)
This jobsite had a supervisor that was very straight-laced and everything was done by the book. He was a religious sort of young fellow...a nice guy, but again, everything had to be proper. Absolutely no cussing on the job, for example.
He came out of the door inside the garage to where all the workers were seated and began addressing them about the business at hand and as he was doing so, when he turned his head and saw me out in the pouring rain and lightning with an aluminum foil skullcap with a spike on top. The look on his face was priceless! LOL! SO funny! He was completely freaked out, and he said, "what ARE you doing!", eyes bugging out of his face.
I just replied, "eating my lunch".
He shook his head a couple of times and just left......back through the door he came out of.
I have some fond memories.
Do you wear hats for style or function or both?
~ Function.
How do you feel about garlic in your food?
-Load it up! <~~~ every day!
-Some, but not too much.
-Just a little
-No thanks!
What's your favorite dish or food with garlic?
~ Chef Boyardee spaghetti and meatballs covered in garlic powder.
It turns it into a very tasty meal that hits the spot for cheap!
Every family has unique words that no one else uses.
What are some of your family's words?
~ They use English words like bugger, bleeder, sod, cheeky, etc..
I use a lot of southern slang sometimes.
How did the words (or phrases) come about?
~ They're not unique to my family. I don't think that "every family has unique words that no one else uses".....do they?
Amaretto Day ~ I chased down an armadillo one time and picked it up - then immediately put it back down when I saw the claws on that thing!
Garlic Day ~ Yayyyyyy!
Humorous Day ~ That is me every day! The creepy people around me really lack humor so it's a bit of a drag for me.
Patriot's Day ~ Nope! That's during NFL season.
First Day of Summer, observed in Iceland ~ I'll bet Iceland ladies are nice.
Dutch-American Friendship Day, marks the day in 1782 that the Netherlands acknowledged the then recently establised USA ~ Wish I had a Dutch girlfriend.
~ HappyWishes and miracles for all that could use them! EAT! EAT!

Today's Question:
Have you ever served on a jury?
Almost. Was called to the jury box during selection but was given the boot. Another time I was excused when the judge did not like the answer I gave during jury selection.
If so, anything memorable about it that you'd like to tell us?
Once during the jury selection this lady was trying everything she could think of to get out of jury duty. Her best attempt was when she told the judge that she was suffering from PMS and her judgement might be impared. That did not work as the judge was also female. I was excused before she was called to the jury box so I have no idea how it turned out.
If not, would you want to be on a jury?
I have better things to do.
Bonus Question:
Once upon a time, people didn't leave home with an uncovered head.
What kind of hats do you wear or have you worn?
Was never much of a hat wearer. One summer job required me to wear a hard hat. That is about it.
Do you wear hats for style or function or both?
I do not do anything for style. So it must have been for function.
Foodie Question:
How do you feel about garlic in your food?
-Load it up! We have a winner.
-Some, but not too much. No such thing as too much
-Just a little Why bother using any at all
-No thanks! You might have a problem if I am doing the cooking
What's your favorite dish or food with garlic?
Way too many to list
Just for fun:
Every family has unique words that no one else uses.
What are some of your family's words?
I am clueless on this one

Id never want to be on a jury, its not up to me to judge someones actions. Just my 2c.
Hmm, hats, I have a few different types. Sun hats, baseball, 'biker' bandanas, a 'cat-in-the hat' type of novelty hat, a couple of derby and yes Ive even worn hard hats.
Way too many foods to list, that are garlic related.
Happy Thursday everyone!

Today's Question:
Have you ever served on a jury? Never
If not, would you want to be on a jury? No, thank you. I'm a special educator & wouldn't want to leave the kids with a "guest teacher" for long.
Bonus Question:
Once upon a time, people didn't leave home with an uncovered head.
What kind of hats do you wear or have you worn? Some people just don't look good in hats & I'm one of them. Haven't worn a hat in years... I remember wearing a hat every Easter to church. White thing that just sort of perched on my head. The last thing worn on my head was a helmet, needed when riding a motorcycle or snowmobile.
I just read a book with the kids about Harriet Hemenway and her cousin Minna. True story about ladies at the turn of the twentieth century who wanted to vote, but who knew men would not take them seriously if they went around wearing dead birds on their heads as was the fashion at the time. They became members of the Audubon Society, learned of warehouses who supplied the dead birds and plumage for hats and had them shut down.
Foodie Question:
How do you feel about garlic in your food?
-Load it up! This one! Love, love garlic!
-Some, but not too much.
-Just a little
-No thanks!
What's your favorite dish or food with garlic?
There is a restaurant in a near by town where you walk in the door and are hit with the smell of garlic. I love it. Favorite dish? Most anything involving pasta. My SIL also makes delicious garlic bread.
Just for fun:
Every family has unique words that no one else uses.
What are some of your family's words? Oh gosh, I remember being in my early teens & having our family host a girl from Norway. We were her last host in the U.S. and she'd been traveling for several months. She said we had more sayings than anyone she'd stayed with. So of course my dad had to think of things his parents and grandparents would say. Too early for me to remember many, but I know one my dad would say was, "Land a Goshen!"
Our principal came from the mid west and she often says, "Goodnight Nurse!"
How did the words (or phrases) come about? Some possibilities: a child trying to pronounce words, a term of affection, many other possibilities. My daughter nursed her little one & Anna would say, instead of nurse, "Moose, Mommy? Moose?"
Paperwork and meeting day for me! I actually have no scheduled meetings, so I'll be glued to the computer finishing up a few IEPs and possibly taking breaks to observe kids in mainstream classrooms.
It's supposed to be a beautiful day, so after school I hope to take a walk at St. Gaudens and look at all the flowers poking their heads up. Enjoy your day!
The picture looks like a painting and not a photo to me..... beautiful!

Good morning, BJH, and thanks for the questions today!
Today's Question:
Have you ever served on a jury?
Nope, been called a few times but haven't been selected.
If not, would you want to be on a jury?
I'd sooner not, to be honest, though if chosen, I'd try to serve well. I knew a person who got chosen for the jury for the trial of a child molester, and she was devastated by the experience, which scares me. I honestly hope I never get chosen.
Bonus Question:
Once upon a time, people didn't leave home with an uncovered head.
What kind of hats do you wear or have you worn?
I mostly wear functional hats, either winter hats to keep my ears from freezing or rain hats to keep my head dry.
Do you wear hats for style or function or both?
Mostly function, as noted above, though I did attend a formal wedding in NY City a few years back where ladies in attendance were asked to wear fancy hats. Took me forever to find something I could stand to wear; I am not the sort to enjoy making a spectacle of myself.
Foodie Question:
How do you feel about garlic in your food?
-Load it up! Love it! We go through a couple of heads of garlic a week.
-Some, but not too much.
-Just a little
-No thanks!
What's your favorite dish or food with garlic?
Oh, too many to list! It's wonderful in so many things.
Just for fun:

How did the words (or phrases) come about? Some possibilities: a child trying to pronounce words, a term of affection, many other possibilities.

Good Morning all!
Today's Question:
Have you ever served on a jury? I have!
If so, anything memorable about it that you'd like to tell us? It was a DUI...the lawyer kept going on and on about why he was pulled over in the 1st place..completely ignoring the sluring and wobbling that was shown on the video taken at the time....he got sent to the slammer!!! Actually I don't remember what sentence he got .
If not, would you want to be on a jury? I would...but because of where I work, I probably will never be chosen again.
Bonus Question:
Once upon a time, people didn't leave home with an uncovered head.
What kind of hats do you wear or have you worn? I have a Marine Corps cover..not the one for the dress blues but the more casual one or a sun visor...if I wear a hat.
Do you wear hats for style or function or both? The Corps hat for style and the visor for function.
Foodie Question:
How do you feel about garlic in your food?
-Load it up!
- Some, but not too much.
-Just a little
-No thanks!
What's your favorite dish or food with garlic? Oh my! there is so many...pizza, spaghetti and bread! I've been known to put it in my stuffing and mashed potatoes also!
Just for fun:
Every family has unique words that no one else uses.
What are some of your family's words? Hunky Dunky
How did the words (or phrases) come about? Some possibilities: a child trying to pronounce words, a term of affection, many other possibilities. If you watch the original Christmas in Conneticut, that is how the Chef would say everything was OK ...As children we thought that was the correct way...now when I say it sometimes I get strange looks..that's ok..it's all Hunky Dunky!
RIP Dick Clark and thanks for the Music!
