Smile Today’s Question: Saturday, 21 April 2012

Welcome to the weekend, kids!
Next time I do QOTD it will be May

So a special thanks to our friend MM (& no, I'm not referring to Marilyn Manson)
for contributing some awesome questions Thanks Mike!

Lets see if you can tell the ones he contributed from mine
Course I'm so weird it'll probably be easy lol

Today's Questions:

Are there any items from the vast array of today's technological wonders
that you wish had been invented years, decades or even centuries earlier?

If so, which items would those be?

Do you feel that mankind would be better off today had those items been invented earlier?

Or do you feel they would have been just modern conveniences and would simply have
been more advanced had they been invented earlier?

Bonus Questions:

What 3 songs would be included on a soundtrack of your life?

Just for Fun
So speaking of technology, I stumbled across this very bizarre site tonight

Would you rather:
Be stuck in an elevator with 3 large wet dogs or
2 obese men with bad breath

Would you rather:
Dip your finger in acid or
Have your big toes chewed off by camels

Would you rather:
Eat fried chicken that had fallen on a dirty floor or
Del Monte canned spinach at a table

Today in History:

1836 - Battle of San Jacinto, in which Texas wins independence from Mexico
1865 - Abraham Lincoln's funeral train leaves Washington
1908 - Frederick A. Cook claims to reach North Pole; he didn't
1948 - 1st Polaroid camera was sold in US
1959 - 1211kg great white shark becomes largest fish ever caught on a rod
1986 - Geraldo Rivera opens Al Capone's vault on TV and finds nothing
1997 - Ashes of Timothy Leary and Gene Roddenberry launched into orbit

Quote of the Day:

“ Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal
with the intent of throwing it at someone else;
you are the one who gets burned.”

~~ Buddha

Today is:
Be Kind To Yourself Day
National Teach Children to Save Day
Laugh & The World Laughs With You Day

Now go out and have some fun, and

All of them! Except cell phones!
If so, which items would those be?

No!

Today's Questions:

Are there any items from the vast array of today's technological wonders
that you wish had been invented years, decades or even centuries earlier? IPOD, Digital recorders, Internet (Yeah .. I know it was invented before I was born BUT it wasn't available for the common Joes ) ...

If so, which items would those be? See above answer

Do you feel that mankind would be better off today had those items been invented earlier? I dunno about mankind but I know I would have been better off

Or do you feel they would have been just modern conveniences and would simply have
been more advanced had they been invented earlier? Maybe?

Bonus Questions:

What 3 songs would be included on a soundtrack of your life?

1. You are so good to me - Third Day
2. For such a time as this - Crystal Lewis
3. Abundantly - Avalon

Of course there's others but those have meaning for me

Just for Fun
So speaking of technology, I stumbled across this very bizarre site tonight

Would you rather:
Be stuck in an elevator with 3 large wet dogs or
2 obese men with bad breath: I'll take the two men ... Big dogs terrify me and I cannot stomach wet dog smell.

Would you rather: Neither
Dip your finger in acid or
Have your big toes chewed off by camels

Would you rather:
Eat fried chicken that had fallen on a dirty floor or
Del Monte canned spinach at a table: I'll take the Del Monte canned spinach

Today's Questions:

Are there any items from the vast array of today's technological wonders

that you wish had been invented years, decades or even centuries earlier? Yep.
If so, which items would those be?
Personal computers.
Do you feel that mankind would be better off today had those items been invented earlier?
Nope.
Or do you feel they would have been just modern conveniences and would simply have

been more advanced had they been invented earlier? Yep.

Bonus Questions:
What 3 songs would be included on a soundtrack of your life?
1.
Seek Ye First - a hymn which reminds me to put God first in my life.
2. O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini - because it's my favorite aria to sing and makes my heart overflow with joy.
3. Make New Friends, But Keep the Old - a sweet little song I learned in Brownies and Girl Scouts. I've always been blessed with lots of friends in my life, and I treasure all of them. It's quite an eclectic bunch! "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold."

Just for Fun
So speaking of technology, I stumbled across this very bizarre site tonight
Would you rather:

Be stuck in an elevator with 3 large wet dogs or
2 obese men with bad breath
I'll take the dogs.

Would you rather:

Dip your finger in acid or
Have your big toes chewed off by camels
I'd dip one finger in acid, but I'd remove it in a split second to minimize the damage.

Would you rather:

Eat fried chicken that had fallen on a dirty floor or
Del Monte canned spinach at a table
This one's a toss-up. (No pun intended. )

Quote of the Day:

“ Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal
with the intent of throwing it at someone else;
you are the one who gets burned.” ~~ Buddha
That Buddha - what a guy!

Today is:
Be Kind To Yourself Day Okay, I think I will!
National Teach Children to Save Day If I had kids, I'd teach 'em to save.
Laugh & The World Laughs With You Day This is often true.

Happy weekend, everybody!

Today's Questions:

Are there any items from the vast array of today's technological wonders
that you wish had been invented years, decades or even centuries earlier?
There are many things I could have used earlier in life.

If so, which items would those be?
When I was 12 one of my jobs was to start the car when it was minus 50. A good remote starter sure would have been nice. The other item that would probably been of the most help to me while in high school and college would have been an affordable and compact word processer.

Do you feel that mankind would be better off today had those items been invented earlier?
Mankind might not have been any better off but it is very likely I would have gotten better grades in college if I had a word processer. Only having a manual typewritter and non-exsistant typing skills, my rough draft and what I turned in were usually one and the same.

Or do you feel they would have been just modern conveniences and would simply have
been more advanced had they been invented earlier?

Bonus Questions:

What 3 songs would be included on a soundtrack of your life?
Another One Bites The Dust.
They're Coming To Take Me Away.
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head.

I already was once stuck in an elevator with a small skinny woman with bad breath. That was bad enough. I wll take my chances with the 3 large wet dogs.

Would you rather:
Dip your finger in acid or
Have your big toes chewed off by camels
Whichever of you stumbled accross this question needs to take a look at your internet surfing habits.

Would you rather:
Eat fried chicken that had fallen on a dirty floor or
Del Monte canned spinach at a table
Since I despise spinach, canned or otherwise, I just might have to take my chances with the chicken.

Today's Questions:

Are there any items from the vast array of today's technological wonders
that you wish had been invented years, decades or even centuries earlier?
One or two.

If so, which items would those be?
A pocket calculator would have been good since I was so useless at maths! I could say that a word processor/computer would have been helpful if it had been generally available when I was a kid/young adult - but the truth is that having to use a typewriter and start again when I made too many mistakes really honed my ability to say what I mean and mean what I say.

Do you feel that mankind would be better off today had those items been invented earlier?
Hmmm, I could write an essay about this... suffice to say I'm not 100% convinced mankind is better off (in an overall sense) as a result of these technological advances, other than in a few areas, such as medical research and treatment of diseases.

Or do you feel they would have been just modern conveniences and would simply have been more advanced had they been invented earlier?
If all the high-tech stuff we use had been invented years earlier, it would probably be obsolete by now!

Bonus Questions:

What 3 songs would be included on a soundtrack of your life?
You Don't Have to Say you Love Me (Dusty Springfield)
Hey Jude (Beatles)
House of the Rising Sun (The Animals)

That's three out of at least 500 songs I'd need on my soundtrack.

Just for Fun
So speaking of technology, I stumbled across this very bizarre site tonight

Would you rather:
Be stuck in an elevator with 3 large wet dogs or
2 obese men with bad breath
I'll go with the dogs!

Would you rather:
Dip your finger in acid or
Have your big toes chewed off by camels
I'll go with the acid, especially if I can choose which acid.

Would you rather:
Eat fried chicken that had fallen on a dirty floor or
Del Monte canned spinach at a table
I have never heard of spinach in a can (don't you guys get fresh spinach year-round?)... so I'll pick that just to try it.

Thanks JJ (and Mike)!

Have a Sumptuous Saturday.

I like dogs, even if they're wet and smelly.

Neither of these sounds appealing.

Would you rather:
Eat fried chicken that had fallen on a dirty floor or
Del Monte canned spinach at a table
I'll take my chance with the canned spinach. At least it didn't fall on the dirty floor.

Have a great weekend!
