Morning y’all
. . . . . Didja Know?
Gurning contests are a rural English tradition that dates back as far as 1267 when
King Henry III granted the Egremont Crab Fair a Royal Charter. A “gurn” is a
distorted facial expression and competitors put on a horse collar, then attempt
to make the most grotesque face possible.

Some competitors take this very seriously, like 4-time world champion Peter Jackman;
he had his teeth removed in 2000 to make his facial maneuvers easier.

Gurnsey cows? What?

Is that Jezer or English Dave on the right?

Around here they throw dried cow crap at the state fair as far as possible for some reason, so I'm not surprised at the English.

If only Peter Jackman had known the woman in JJoy's previous post! She would have yanked all his teeth out just for fun.

Eeek! Those faces are just creepy! I think I've seen the guy on the left before, but it could just be that there are so many rednecks around here that look EXACTLY like that.

It does seem to be a Cumbrian thing, this gurning. Very weird.

Cumbria is an area in the north west of England.

Oh, and it's Guernsey cows!

Oh, and it's not me in the picture!
