Today's Question, Thursday 10 May 2012

Sunday is Mother's Day here in the USA and Thursday the 10th of May is Mother's Day in Mexico so for our first question . . .

Today's Question:

Tell us one of your fondest memories of dear old mom, grandma, an aunt, or anyone who has been like a mom to you?

I have so many of them. My Mom was a wonderful person and my very best friend. She adored my children and was especially fond of her first grandchild , my son.

Bonus Question:

Most of us probably got our first lessons in sharing from our moms.
Then or now what's something you didn't want to share?

I can't think of anything, really. My brother (my only sibling) and I were so different. We both did have Davy Crockett hats, though.

Foodie Question: My favorite kind of question.
Today is Shrimp day. yum
Do you like eating shrimp? I love shrimp!
If so, how so - how do you like shrimp cooked and what do you like to have with it?
What's that phrase from "Forrest Gump"? fried shrimp, boiled shrimp, baked shrimp, shrimp in a basket , shrimp in a stew.... there is a Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant in San Francisco.....

Just for fun:

When was the last time you visited a library?

Last week. I won a raffle for the library store.

Any particular reason or just browsing?

I go all the time and I am a "friend" of the library and volunteer at thier booksales.

What do you like or dislike about libraries?

I love libraries & think that they are an important part of our culture.

Today’s Word:
Swiss chard - [swis chahrd] noun
a variety of beet, Beta vulgaris cicla, having leaves and leafstalks that are used as a vegetable

Happy Thursday, may ur day be filled with laughter, ur heart continually merry and ur mind peaceful!

I experienced 3 generations of great mothers each having imparted something good into my life. Lots of fond and endearing memories... I just hope when it is all said and done I have been at least half the woman of the sum total of these women.

U know I don't ever remember not sharing as a kid in a large family. Not sharing was never an option. However, the thing I really don't like to share as a fully grown up chick is my man!!! lol Yes, I had to share till I found out I was sharing.

I am not really into shrimp, but I suppose if it were prepared nice I wouldn't mind. I would prefer a cheese burger though.

Share the Love

Good afternoon to all!

Today's Question:
Tell us one of your fondest memories of dear old mom, grandma, an aunt, or anyone who has been like a mom to you?
In the past four years since Mom passed away, my memories become more and more special. But the one thing I miss the most about her is her ability to be the amiable one within the family, her social groups, etc. She always did whatever was needed to smooth things out and make everyone happy.

Bonus Question:
Most of us probably got our first lessons in sharing from our moms.
Then or now what's something you didn't want to share?

Foodie Question:
Today is Shrimp day.
Do you like eating shrimp?
If so, how so - how do you like shrimp cooked and what do you like to have with it?
I like shrimp cocktail, shrimp scampi, and breaded shrimp. I'll eat them all ala carte and be happy.

Just for fun:
When was the last time you visited a library?
Almost ten years ago.

Any particular reason or just browsing?
To use their internet while my house was being built.

What do you like or dislike about libraries?
I'm indifferent.

Today Is:
Blood Pressure Day
Clean Up Your Room Day
Make-A-Book Day
Mother's Day (Mexico)
Receptionist Day
Shrimp Day
Small Business Day
Trust Your Intuition Day
Windmill Day

Have a great day everybody!

Hello everyone, just stumbled across this thread and it looked like fun, this is my first time to answer the question of the day.

Today's Question:

Tell us one of your fondest memories of dear old mom, grandma, an aunt, or anyone who has been like a mom to you? This will be the first mother's day without my dear mother who passed away last October at the age of 85. I was stationed in Virginia Beach in 1995 and a had a beautiful condo. My mom flew down and spent a month with me. It was so wonderful. We did so many things together and went to the beach several times. It was her first time seeing the ocean in her life. I will never forget that time together. Miss you mom.

Bonus Question:
Most of us probably got our first lessons in sharing from our moms.
Then or now what's something you didn't want to share? Mom taught me well and I have always been willing to share things, especially my time to help people.

Did you have to anyway? I'm sure there were times when I was a little child where she forced me to share toys, I can see her doing that. She was lovingly strict about things.

Foodie Question:
Today is Shrimp day.
Do you like eating shrimp?
If so, how so - how do you like shrimp cooked and what do you like to have with it? I love fried shrimp, which is what I started with, pretty late in my adult life actually. Never had it as a child. More recently, I like it Grilled, sautéed and in pasta. Now I have all my kids eating shrimp! They love it.

Just for fun:
When was the last time you visited a library? I'm in a public library right now (supposed to be doing my college work) while surfing on the free WiFi.

Any particular reason or just browsing? Using the WiFi, but needed someplace quiet to work.

What do you like or dislike about libraries? My wife and kids are big into libraries. We have ebooks readers at home, but still visit the library 2-3 times a month. I'm grateful that we still have them.

Today's Question:

Lots of good memories with my mom and my grandmother. My mom in particular has always been a very kind, supportive person who has always been there for me when I needed her.

Bonus Question:
Most of us probably got our first lessons in sharing from our moms.
Then or now what's something you didn't want to share?

When I was a kid I didn't want to share anything, especially my toys and my candy!....lol.

Did you have to anyway?

I was allowed to have my own toys and candy but there were times when my parents made me share...lol.

Foodie Question:
Today is Shrimp day.
Do you like eating shrimp? I'm not very fond of shrimp, I rarely eat it.
If so, how so - how do you like shrimp cooked and what do you like to have with it?

Popcorn shrimp is okay. With popcorn shrimp you mostly taste the batter and not the shrimp so that's good in my case....lol.

Just for fun:
When was the last time you visited a library? It's been about 10 years.

Any particular reason or just browsing? If I remember correctly, I was there to use one of the libary's computers.

What do you like or dislike about libraries?

I can't think of anything at the moment.
