Calling someone Mercedes sounds weird. We had one in HS.

In Spanish, Dolores means "pain." Even my Spanish speaking friends would make up names like Dolores de la Barriga, meaning stomach ache. Just because it's religious doesn't mean it's a nice name. How about Peregrine?

I'm sure many Hispanic husbands think their wives are well named.

You are the Dolores in my life

Female names I admire :

- Nora
- Aurelia
- Claudia
- Ariana
- Summer
- Autumn
- Melanie
- Sophia
- Elena
- Erica
- Jenna
- Emma
- Roxana
- Christina / Kristina
- Mostly anything else that starts or ends with the letter "A"
Many Indian and Arabic female names end in "a"..Meena, Reena, Sameena, Sameera, Safiya etc..the "a" usually denotes that it's a female name.

Roxana is an Iranian name...it's the same as Rukhshana

Well my real name is Alan (correct spelling) means handsome. Somehow I don't think that is working out since I'm still a virgin.

A name that sounds like it was made up by a girl living in the projects, major turnoff, I'm sorry, just being honest. Not talking about names like Keshia, Tameka, Aaliyah, etc. More like Tyeesuhia, Laumznizah, etc.

There was a time in my late 20s where all I seemed to meet were Js. Jim, John, Jonathan, Jerry, Joe, James, Justin. It got to the point where one night, a guy started talking to me in a bar, and I said, "Wait, don't tell me. Your name begins with J."

"It's Jason. How did you know?"

"I know everything."

We dated for a year.

As for names that might not work out so well for me...

I like names like Jonathan, Brandon, Thomas, Jeffrey, Shawn (by itself)

I dislike names with apostrophes in them, or vary based on the prefix you add eg Daequan, Raquan, Rayquan, Shaquan,Tiquan etc. Some of these names are converted into nicknames: Ray-Ray, Ti-Ti, Day-Day.

Who really cares about a name? I'd love to get with a woman named Mabel or Bertha who looked like Cindy Crawford. Having a bad name sucks because you get made fun of but I don't think sane people care about that lol. Only time it's weird is if it's a persons mom or dad's name lol.

Point taken. But if a person has a ridiculous name that doesn't fit their "look," they can always go change it. Some people also change their name from the foreign into English equivalent (Jorge to George). It's easily done.
