Default German Water Bridge-Over a River!

Even after you see it, it is still hard to believe !

Water Bridge in Germany.... What a feat!

Six years, 500 million euros, 918 meters long....! ...now this is engineering!

This is a channel-bridge over the River Elbe and joins the former East and West Germany, as part of the unification project. It is located in the city of Magdeburg, near Berlin. The photo was taken on the day of inauguration.

To those who appreciate engineering projects.....

Although on a smaller scale there is a similar feat just north of princeton NJ. The Delaware raritain Canal passes over top over the millstone River. ! This was done back in the days when barges fill with ore and other products was transported by barges pulled by donkeys which walked on a tow path along side the canal. The impressive thing is that the entire system was dug without the aid of machines. Donkeys and men with picks and shovels..thru the woods !! All 110 miles of it including the river over pass.

We call them aqueducts in England. They are not on the same scale as the one in Germany, but then again they're probably a few hundered years older.
