Today’s Questions – Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012.

Good morning everyone and welcome to QOTD for Tuesday, July 3rd. Re the box of unidentified photographs I talked about last week, I am doing as many of you suggested and putting them aside for friends and family to look over. My daughter is coming to stay this weekend and has no idea what she’s in for! thanks for the questions and enjoy your daughter's visit.

Today’s Question:

Karl Benz drove the first automobile on this day in 1886. What was your first automobile and when did you get it?

an orange Super Beetle
my pumpkin car. I had it until my son was almost sixteen & then someone hit it and just drove away. I was devastated.

Extra Credit Question:

If you could change just one aspect of your personality (major or minor), what would you change and why

I would be a little more brave w/less neuroses such as not being able to drive on the freeways. It is very limiting in many ways.

Bonus Question:

Which of each of these food pairs do you prefer (pick one from each pair):

Rice or potatoes potatoes, but I really like them both.
Chicken or fish chicken
Multigrain bread or plain white bread rye bread
Broccoli or cauliflower broccoli

Just for Fun:

What colour are your eyes? bluish grey

Today in History:

1839 First state normal school in U.S. opens, Lexington, Massachusetts, with 3 students so that's a teaching school, right? I wonder why it was called a "normal" school.
1886 In Germany, Karl Benz drives first automobile
1928 First colour TV broadcast in London (John Logic Baird)
1929 Dunlop Latex Development Laboratories made foam rubber
1954 Food rationing ends in Britain wow. That was nine years after the end of the war, a long time.

Good morning, Kobber, and thanks for our questions today!

Today’s Question:

Karl Benz drove the first automobile on this day in 1886. What was your first automobile and when did you get it?

My first vehicle was a navy-blue 1965 Ford Galaxy 500 named Inky. I paid $200 for her in 1978 and drove her until my spouse and I bought our first vehicle together several years later.

Extra Credit Question:

If you could change just one aspect of your personality (major or minor), what would you change and why?

I wish I was less introverted and shy.

Bonus Question:

Which of each of these food pairs do you prefer (pick one from each pair):

Rice or potatoes
Tough call, pretty much depends on what else is on the menu, but potatoes probably have a slight edge.
Chicken or fish Again, tough call; I like 'em both. I probably eat more fish than I do chicken, but not by much.
Multigrain bread or plain white bread Oh, multi-grain, particularly whole-grain, all the way! Unless the white bread is home-made, of course.
Broccoli or cauliflower I like 'em both! Broccoli has a slight edge in cooked applications, cauliflower has a slight edge raw in salads, but I can't imagine life without either of them.

Just for Fun:

What colour are your eyes?

They're chameleon! This is my only super-power - my eyes change color according to what I wear (and no, I don't wear contacts). When I wear blue, my eyes are blue; when I wear turquoise, my eyes are turquoise; when I wear green, my eyes are green; when I wear grey, my eyes are grey.

Thank you, Kobber

My daughter is coming to stay this weekend and has no idea what she’s in for!
Yea!!!

Today’s Question:

Karl Benz drove the first automobile on this day in 1886. What was your first automobile and when did you get it?
A little old green Corvair, purchased from Father, that I never drove.

Extra Credit Question:

If you could change just one aspect of your personality (major or minor), what would you change and why?
Oh, something I have been mourning for several months: to love my inner circle more completely, to love more people than I do, and that my love would be more than mere action.

Bonus Question:

Which of each of these food pairs do you prefer (pick one from each pair):

Rice or potatoes
That's hard! I guess potatoes because I like them so many different ways and I like rice only two ways
Chicken or fish I guess chicken, but it still can't beat out one fish: salmon
Multigrain bread or plain white bread Multigrain
Broccoli or cauliflower Broccoli

Just for Fun:

What colour are your eyes?
blue

Today in History:

1839 First state normal school in U.S. opens, Lexington, Massachusetts, with 3 students

1886 In Germany, Karl Benz drives first automobile
1928 First colour TV broadcast in London (John Logic Baird)
1929 Dunlop Latex Development Laboratories made foam rubber
1954 Food rationing ends in Britain
They went through so much. I watch things World War II, and it is amazing -- the stalwart people and their determination to not just survive but to rise high above the destruction.

Oops! Ate beans yesterday. Not gonna eat them again today.

With regard to complimenting my mirrors? Not the image, but the cleanness of the mirror itself!

Today’s Question:

You would think I would remember my first car. I'm thinking it's one of two. Both were used. Neither one did I pick out myself. Don't remember which came first. One was orange with a beige top. It might have been a Pontiac sedan of some sort. The other was maroon and it was a diesel sedan. I think that one was a Buick. It was about 40 years ago.

Extra Credit Question:

I'd be a better listener. I don't remember names seconds after I'm introduced. I never remember who said what, I used to do poorly if tests were based on lectures rather than the reading material and if a bunch of people are chit chatting I tune out in about a minute, making me not party material.

I'd like to not be a procrastinator, too.

Bonus Question:

Which of each of these food pairs do you prefer (pick one from each pair):

Rice or potatoes rice
Chicken or fish chicken
Multigrain bread or plain white bread white bread
Broccoli or cauliflower broccoli

Just for Fun:

What colour are your eyes?

red, white and blue (okay, the red part is from rubbing them)
