Because they are made of fiberglass and dome shaped, my guess is that there was some type of electronic tracking device similar if not radar tracking for the various satellites that were in orbit, perhaps starting with the GEMINI project and being used for other missions.
The vent at the top indicates that there was a need to remove and allow the heat that was generated off of the electronic equipment inside the pod to escape.
Fiberglass would not interfere with the radar signals transmitted and received from inside the pod as the parabolic antenna rotated 360 degrees at a fast speed. The transmitter and receiver would produce heat that would escape from the top air vent. The information gathered at this remote pod site would then be telemetered to a central command center located in a more populated area, for the purpose of identifying the success of the mission.
The pods were potable and could be placed around the world in strategic locations as needed, but when the mission ended they were mothballed and returned to this storage place.
It’s either that or you are the first to have found early prehistoric evidence of Eskimos who lived in the area before the great ice melt. You decide igloo or equipment POD?
Well all sorts of thing s crossed through our minds when we discovered these. Could have been a fiberglass liner of nose cones on aircraft. Still ...a real mystery and and fun to think about the possibilities. Aks the electronic equipment shelter especially near an air base is plausible idea. Last plane actually flew out in 1960 or early 60's (61' or 62'). The only real reason I think there's a more down to Earth use is the plaque we found still attached to one.
This is the pic I tried to post earlier with the cone still on a platform.
Interesting stuff Nitram! Well there's no doubt they are shaped similarly to those early space mission capsules. I still think they are storage of some sort, though the silk-like liner is still a puzzle. You can see the silky stuff hanging from the door on the picture above^^.
No windows and air driven turbine. I think i posted that other dog house of Mike's! LOL! No orchards nearby no way. Recently built homes nearby but this area is the Boonies though it's near to many things.
