Oh, how I can relate to you!! All I can say is do what you feel you want to do, or else you will just be unhappy! If you want quite time with just you, your hubby and the kids, go for it!!
MY mother-in-law is the meanest lady in the world, no joke!! She goes out of her way to make you feel like sh*#.
If hubby is ok and kids are ok, so be it!! Have a great Thanksgiving at home alone and maybe even with your pjs on!!lol

Maybe tell them that you are all now vegetarians.

Or else that you are still fighting that nasty case of (contagious) MRSA and are a three week regime of antibiotics....

Just be straight forward and let them know well in advance you wish to spend it with just your family. No company!

ok They are gone!! Whew!!

Well I brought it up.

I said we won't be around this year for thanksgiving, the kids wanna go see the NYC parade. And they really do!!! (But if its raining or cold we aren't going--I didn't tell them that-LOL). HIs mom looked disappointed, "oh, you won't be home...oh ok".

Well glad I brought it up and said what I said.

And if they would come over they'd bring their 3 dogs and I already have 4 dogs so 9 humans and 7 dogs----NAHHHH no thanks, not with a lot of good food around.

THANKS for all the ADVICE!!!!

Say "sorry, we have other plans". (You do--to be together with just your kids.)

ditto Rance. If they generally go to your place for Thanksgiving, I think you owe it to them to let them know ASAP that this year you plan on spending the holiday with just your own immediately family. Hopefully they will understand...I don't blame you for it either.
