Morning y’all
A big shout out to Jezer for today’s interesting little tidbit
. . . . . Didja Know?
Because Normandy was usually so quiet in June due to bad weather, Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, the infamous
Desert Fox, decided he could go home to celebrate his wife's birthday - which happened to be at the very moment
the invasion by Allied forces was about to begin (6 June 1944)

Well that will teach him not to do that again! Very stupid if you ask me. A good break for British and American troops to go in................................... however there still were too many lives lost in battle.

Yeah, what a huge mistake! Like you said, I'm glad he made that mistake though.

I guess the allies gave him and his wife a nice birthday surprise.

I guess the bad weather forecast for the Nazis on June 6th would have been: Cloudy with a chance of allied invasion.. On that note, from what I read in the article in the link, the Germans did not have good weather forecasting capabilities, like the allies did.

Seems that most of the Germans didn't know about the weather and should have.
