I kind of wanted to just hang out at the house here, maybe go to the truckstop solo later on for a meal, but family is 'kidnapping' me to go join them out of town. Actually, Im going to make one of my famous Dutch Apple pies to take.

"Will you eat or at least try something you don't like at these meals just to be polite ?"

NO, NO, NO, I just say no thank you

I tried a Persimmon cookie at the nagging request of my wife one Christmas, less than five minutes later my hands began to itch, then my feet, all these big bumps started coming up, then a lot of pain, spending Christmas in the hospital sucked.
And that was just one bite of the cookie.

Just gotta say that a persimmon cookie does not even sound like it might be tasty......

Well, you guys would probably have a difficult time eating Thanksgiving meals at my house . Today we had Crab legs, fish head soup, scallops, bi bim bap, bulgogi, dak-gui, kim chi (of course), and a few other dishes. I'm not sure you'd try any of it, but you sure would be missing out!

robyn,
I am all about the carbs

Well on my plate for dinner was
white meat turkey - my first time trying "deep fried turkey lol does that count as a new food ???
mashed potatoes
corn
and a roll

and I enjoyed every bite

GreenOR I am sure it was a lovely dinner with great company, but I would of had to pass seafood is not on my "selective eater list"

I hope everyone had a great day

I'm late coming in but just wanted to say I completely get the "selective" eating! I made some special things yesterday because DH and his mother enjoy them, but I've never even tried them. There are things I was forced to try as a child, haven't tried them since, and won't! I don't mind trying "new" things, but with so many things out there that I enjoy eating it just doesn't make sense to eat what I dislike to make someone else "happy". Crazy idea....and my reply to someone who repeatedly asks me to try something I don't like, or don't want to try? After the first two "no thank you"s, I go straight to "I know what I like, I said no thank you". That always ends it!
