When I went career military. Everyone I graduated HS with completed degrees, and some of my best HS buddies got doctorates. It was considered a waste of a college prep education at the hands of the Marist brothers. I just got tired of school.

Well, most people thought we were nuts for moving to Alaska! Somewhere along the line, most people think we're nuts for pursuing what appears to them to be extreme outdoor pursuits. (Nothing too out of the ordinary. We just know too many couch potatoes!)

Since I'm neither easily embarrassed nor intimidated, I--too--will take many dares. I'm willing to be laughed at, and I'm even more willing to embarrass my friends. One of the things my friends will never forgive me for is reading Are You My Mother? out loud to them at the airport. When they moved away from me, I just raised my voice and held the book up to show them the pictures! I've learned to go easy on my dd, though.

One thing I've learned in the course of many years of acting wacky is that complete strangers usually respond favorably. It's nice to bring a smile to someone's face! When I was reading the book (and I'm a very animated orator!), people around us were enjoying the scene immensely. One older couple even came up to me afterward and thanked me for bringing back so many memories; the book was one of their children's favorites! You just never know what act of silliness will considerably brighten someone's day!!

Let me know how your niece and nephews react! Somehow, I think you and I would make a dangerous combination. Rance should be counting his lucky stars I couldn't join your Alaskan adventure!
