LOL... I've seen a bumper sticker with that same caption too.

I remember the day I had that picture taken also, it was around this time of the year in 1983, and it was cold, windy, and raining, and I didn't get a chance to straighten my hair out, that's why I look like I stuck my finger into an electrical outlet!

One of the best t-shirts I ever saw said

"I'm too sexy for my hair. That's how come it isn't there"

MJB, I think we might have hung out together in Wildwood in those hair days. I think I went through a can of Aqua Net a week back then...... the teasing comb, the hair spray, the heavy makeup...... I'm almost able to smell that stuff just from the memories.

It also reminds me of the guys back then who cruised around in their Camaros, Firebirds and Trans Ams playing club music really really loud...... If they wore enough gold chains we called them Guidos! I think they used almost as much hair product as we did.

As a proud member of the class of 1988, my high school year book is full of those cool hairdos.

Remember those blouses that had real billowy upper arms and got tight below the elbow? I keep waiting for that style to come back but it hasn't. And how about those tuxedo shirts with the bowties?

I once had a Beatle Bob.

Probably what I have now is the most outlandish. But others response to it has been good. I recently saw a girl I had not seen in a year and she asked if I had had a face lift. No, I retired from a stressful job and got a new haircut that sticks out all over the place. Makes me look ten years younger.

That Dorthy Hammil is high maintenance. I had one once and then got something else. I can't have my hair cut that often. My hair grows fast and the Dorthy Hammil lost its shape in about 3 weeks.

Yes, it was conservative big hair...but it was usually completely flat, so it took a lot to get those wings.

Magnum Mike: I was a very unenthused teenager...it was my dark years...all 17 of them in that pix. LOL...I'm making up for it now, I finally learned how to smile & have fun.

This thread is too funny!!!

I would have absolutely LOVED to have big hair. However, my hair is very fine and straight, and it takes forever to grow. The most I could manage was big bangs. I'm sure they looked like something a surfer could hang ten on, then the bangs would crash with the wave.

It seemed I was on an endless quest for the one hairstyle that would look good. My absolute worst blunder was telling the gal at the local beauty college she could do whatever she thought would look best. I ended up with something that looked like a rat gnawed, very short page boy! I was horrified!!! A kind lady at church took me aside and asked if I'd ever heard of a curling iron. Since that day, I've been able to disguise most of my hair disasters with a little mousse and some heat! (I think I owe that dear sweet lady a bouquet of flowers!) A few years later, I discovered the power of perms.

I've changed my hairstyle so many times that someone looking through a friend's photo album kept pointing to my pictures and asking who I was. (I looked different in every single photo!)

Blueberry, you must have missed the Aqua-Net generation. That stuff was like laquer and glue combined and would make even the finest hair stand up! I have the same kind of hair as you but it's curly.
