Ok, this is a spinoff of the 80's thread. What were your favorite songs to rollerskate to back then. Or what songs remind you of rollerskating? Here's a few below

Freakazoid Midnight Star (NO NIGHT OF ROLLERSKATING IS COMPLETE WITHOUT THIS SONG!!)

No Parking on the Dancefloor Midnight Star
You should be Dancing Bee Gees
Dancing Queen Abba
Kiss you All Over Exile
Freak Out Le Chic
Rappers Delight Sugar Hill Gang
Jam on It Newcleus

Egypt, Planet Rock, Play at your own Risk, White Lines

freakazoids...robots..please report

z-o-i-d-s, freakazoids
z-o-i-d-s
z-o-i-d-s rock baby

This will be a couple's skate in the opposite direction....

Great topic, mjb...I'll play....
I skated a lot..my parents used to drop me off with my older sister from about the time I was 10 years old.

I remember dancing to....(and remember, I skated a lot in the mid to late 70s with my older sis and her friends so these songs will reflect that!)

Chic's 'Good Times'
George Benson's 'Give Me The Night'
Parliament's 'Flash Light'
John Paul Young's 'Love Is In The Air'
Yarbrough and People's 'Dont Stop The Music'
Diana Ross' 'Sweetest Hangover' (especially when the fast part started..lol)

OK, I dont have the songs on my mind, but I sure remember getting dropped off on Friday nights to go skating.... So much fun!!!! When would that have been?

Maybe the early to mid eighties for me. Dag that was so fun. Had my own skates, special ordered, so i could be cool like that! And I was.

Now, would I ever dream of dropping my kids, who are at the very age that I was at the time I was being dropped off at the skating rink for hours on friday nights, until the place closed, waiting for one of the parents to pick us up.

That would be a NEGATIVE! So sad, So true. Our kids just cannot do what we did...

Darn, I don't get to play. You're a decade too late for me.

The all-time favorite that I think of first..... "You Dropped the Bomb on Me" by Gap Band Thriller.

OMG, what a blast that was! I tried roller blading but it just wasn't the same. Nothing like going to the skating rink and risking bodily injury to have fun. Helmets? Never heard of such back then. Elbow and knee pads? Puh-leez! I practiced my moves (ha!) at home and in the neighborhood and took some stitches for it, but those were the days!

Awesome thread!
