I get something from Mutual of Omaha addressed to a person who does not live at my address. Also the address is wrong as my address is a duplex so there is an A or B tacked onto the house number that is missing from the misdirected mail.

I write return to sender, addressee not at this address and leave it in my mailbox and the mailman refuses to take it back. it has been in my box for over a week now.

I am not going to take the time out to hand deliver this misdirected mail back to the post office.

Any suggestions?

Call the PO and it will be picked up the next day.

Cross out the address and line through the bar code. This last is especially important, or the automatic sorting equipment used by the U.S. Postal Service will read the code and send it back to you again.
Cross your address and write "Return to sender".
Bring it to your post office, or just put into a mailbox.

If it's junk mail, throw it away.

I cross out the address and note return to sender, or sent to wrong address if that's the case and then drop it in the big blue corner PO mailbox.

Do all of the above and if you have outgoing mail at work take it there and drop it in the outgoing mail.
