I was at a NICE restaurant with a buddy and I looked up and saw a lady with a lap dog at the bar. I could not believe it. I told my buddy, had we been sitting over there i would have had an issue with that.

People seem to think dogs are humans. This lady had the dog up in her lap at the bar as if it were a child.

Please, don't try to justify this. I know some of you will.

Saw it a lot in England. Their dogs were extremely well behaved. Better behaved than a lot of kids that are in restaurants.

Frankly I have no problem with it, except that the law doesn't permit it. It's the entitlement and arrogance that I don't like. The people who think that the rules don't apply to them. I don't blame the dogs.

We had a little fuzzy doggie at the business for a number of years.. would lay in the display case next to the hand bags.. You are seeing numerous restaurants in major city's that have out side table seating to have pets and pet exclusive meals for a wider customer base.
Most likely as JanND stated owner or friends of the owner.

Seriously? Why bother posting if you don't want others' opinions???

As Tin Man stated, many restaurants have outdoor areas that allow people and their pets that are out spending time with their dogs walking around town.

Why that was allowed at the particular restaurant you were at would be something you would need to speak to its manager about since it seems it bothered you so much.

.

Just for your information, there are other types of service dogs besides seeing eye dogs.

I'm not necessarily saying that was the case here, but it is possible.

Just one resource.

The dogs are better than most humans.
I would have been delighted to have seen that doggy there.

OP you're barking up the wrong tree. I'm with the dogs on this one. I agree that many dogs are more suitable for dining, "fine" or not, than some humans. I can see it being a bit unpleasant were one to have an accident. I've seen people have accidents too. Some of these dogs are more than pets to their owners. I'm sure there are many walk up/ walk in bars and more open areas that allow pets.

We've seen odd human behavior on planes in recent years. Maybe the pets should be allowed seats and some passengers stuck in the cargo holds. I love dogs....the bigger the better. I like the idea of being able to go places and keep one at my side. You can bet your butt it's the wave of the future so get used to it. We've taken away their freedom to run around without a leash attached so it's the least we can do. No need to justify anything except why your're making a big deal of nothing.
