Did Mr. Pelican ask for a pretzel after the other guy ordered those two that were placed in the oven? It wasn't clear. Not that it matters. Who is really going to say "no, those aren't my pretzels?" If Pelican was ahead of crazy guy it makes sense to give him the pretzel that is ready first, even if it happens to be one of the two in the oven. The point of fast food is get you in, get you out, not to have someone hanging around if he could have had his food already.

I got into a fight over a turkey sandwich. Long story!

OP, you didn't do anything wrong. The clerk who served you did. I understand it was an instant reaction on your part trying to be a cooperative good citizen to take what was handed to you. The guy trying to make it about years of oppression, etc. HE is a racist. We all have ancestors who were oppressed for whatever reason. Most human beings don't use their ancestors difficulties as an excuse to be an a-hole.
