I had a blast growing up in the 60s. I was 5 years old when the decade started. It was a time when kids could run off and play in others' yards all day and there was no reason for their moms to worry about them. We used to buy candy cigarettes. There were no seat belts in cars. We had nuclear holocaust drills in school (as though crouching beneath our desks would save our lives ). Most families ate supper together every night and actually talked to each other! We had 5 TV channels: NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS and a local Chicago station. We had to wait for the TV's tubes to warm up before the picture slowly appeared. All telephones had dials on them. The ice cream man had a cart with bells on it instead of a truck; a little later he had a truck, but it just had bells and no recorded music.
Ah, so many memories!
