Default Todays question Saturday 1-05-08

Good morning everyone
Happy Saturday to all !!!
We were talking about cars the other day and I thought this would be a fun idea for one of the days questions.
Todays question:

What was your very first car ?

and because it might be fun to see how things have changed

What do you drive today?

Today in history:
This was a big "TV" day over the years.
January 5, 1945 Pepe LePew debuts in Warner Bros cartoon "Odor-able Kitty"
January 5, 1959 "Bozo the Clown" live children's show premieres on TV
January 5,1961 - "Mr. Ed", the talking horse, debuted “Hello. I’m Mr. Ed!” “A horse is a horse, of course, of course”
January 5, 1970 Soap Opera "All My Children," premieres on ABC

Word of the day:
lacuna \luh-KYOO-nuh\, noun;
plural lacunae \luh-KYOO-nee\ or lacunas::
1. A blank space; a missing part; a gap.
2. (Biology) A small opening, depression, or cavity in an anatomical structure.

Today is National Whipped Cream Day

1st car was a 1988 Hyndai Excel. It was the year 1998 I got it. It was a white hatchback with no A/C.

Now I drive a 2002 Hyndai Elantra. It is gold and has A/C!!

Default First Car

Mine was a 1975 El Camino (wish I had it today). I was so upset. My sister got a brand new Torino, but my parents bought an El Camino for me because they needed some sort of an extra vehicle to use to haul things in at times. Now, how WRONG was THAT? I don't think I ever quite got over that one.

1971 VW Karmanghia convertable that I inherited from my mom.Sat in the garage for years till I graduated.I had soooo much fun with that car.Girls often thought it was a Porsche tehehe.

With the top down I would have my amps and guitars sticking out while blasting the stereo to band practice,I was scoped out by chicks at stop lights often,long hair,cool car,guitars...yep..Use to pile in a couple friends and drive down to the Keys to the Tiki bar and get plastered (stay the night).Use to drive it down the beach in Ft Lauderdale and girls would just flock to the car.

And then one day,I got stupid by not wiping off the morning dew ,turned a corner the sun blinded me and I slammed into a pickup truck.I drove it for months with a smashed up front end swearing Id fix it but at that time I just didn't have the money.I finally sold it.

Then I got a 77 Lincoln land yaght that I would pack in 7 friends and drive down to the tiki bar.That car always left me stranded in the worse places though,one time I was out solo in the Glades shooting,it died and I walked 5 miles to get help while I had to leave a bunch of guns in the car.

Another time at a party out in the Glades,we had a bon fire going,I'm the last to leave,it wouldn't start,I waited a hour for friends to come back after they realized I was missing.

Ah but the good old days of being a poor teen with whatever car I could get,and using them to full advantage.

The first car I ever owned that was mine came when I was 40 years old. It was a teal Camero that changed to jade green when the sun went down. Up until that time I had always used what my dh bought in his name or before that my parents car.

My car now is the old family car and I don't know whose name it is in. My car is a 1996 Buick Century and my dh has a 2002 Buick LeSabre. We are looking for another car right now. I think retirees should have a convertible, don't you? The car I like the best so far is the Saturn Sky.

Mine was a 1977 GMC Sierra Classic crew cab dually. That thing ate parts like no other vehicle I have ever seen. The last time I had to replace a part we had to call GM in Detroit to see if they still had the mold to make the part. I drove that truck, usually with a 40 foot 5th wheel attached, up one side of this country and back down the other. Drove it to Canada, drove it to California, drove it everywhere. The thing got all of 8 miles to the gallon towing a trailer.

It had over 500,000 miles on it when I finally sold it. Last I knew it was still going strong, being used to tow a race car trailer to the races.

They sure don't make 'em like that anymore.

I got my first car when I turned 19 in 1994. It was a red 1980 Mazda 626, two door coupe. The passenger door didn't work properly so my friends had to climb in Daisy Duke style...it was hilarious! Nowadays, I drive a 2006 VW Jetta. I've never had a lacuna in my ownership of vehicles...I've never wanted to go without one.
