Etiquette question
We recieved christmas gifts from a neighbor. I sent a fruit basket to them with a thankyou note on the little card that the florist provides. Do I need to send a hand written note as well? I want to do the right thing.

No, your fruit basket and thank you note are all that is needed, imo.

Your note and fruit basket may appear to be enough but I would suggest a hand written note and further suggest that you deliver it in person.
Where we live eye contact and face to face mean more than notes and gifts.
Since I am not am etiquette expert, this is merely my two cents worth.

good manners
I am so happy I am almost in tears...
To hear of someone with such good manners! You went above and beyond.
I was beginning to think that correct behavior and personal class was dying off.
Thank you for giving me a glimmer of hope.

No, one thank you is enough and quite proper. People rarely send thank you notes anymore and I think it's a habit everyone needs to get back in.

I think you're one of very few people that has good manners. You did the right thing.
I wouldn't send another thankyou note but next time you see her, mention how good the fruit was.
