I think she wants to like me, I think she loves me. We have had a lot of ups and downs over the years. But she tells me I am better to her than her own daughter.
I've never talked back to her or openly had a fuss or anything, but things were done and said about and to my family ( father and mother) when they were church members at my dad's church that took a lot of forgiving on my part with out being ask to forgive.
I had to for the sake of my husband and child.

My MIL told my husband after we eloped (we had known each other for a month! ) that I was too short, too skinny, a yankee (they are from TX), and the wrong religion.
She TOLERATED me. Until we had been married for 3 years.
Then she sent me a ring made from my husband's silver baby spoon.
She started being the sweetest person on the planet until the day she passed away.
I had outlasted wife #1.

Wow! So many great stories. I feel bad for Roadog not knowing why his MIL doesn't like him. What would she do if you asked her?
My MIL seemed to care for me, even more than her son, up until we had to live with her this last summer of hell. Before that she was always very nice in a narcissistic way, usually calling just to talk about herself. After we moved in with her this summer, due to money issues, she became so cold, even to my 14 year old son. Never smiled, never said hello first, never would eat what I made for dinner, just a different person. She was not so great with her son either I might add. Now that we have moved 3000 miles away, she calls her son once a week and says she loves him. I can tell that it's her that is calling on caller ID and just hand the phone to him. I thought all of these years that she was great and that I was so lucky. Guess loving from a distance is easier for some.

My mother in law and I are doing fine. She is very easy to be with and she enjoys knowing that I’ve taken care of her daughter over the years. Strange as it is, there were several years that Mrs AksarbeN and I even had taken her with us on vacation to different places. I don’t think we ( she and I ) could have a better relationship.

Yes my mother in law doesn't just like me, she loves me and I love her too. She would do anything for me and I would do anything for her. She appreciates the good care I take of her son. She never interferes with our business, but offers useful advise if asked. My husband also has a wonderful relationship with my mother. I am very blessed!!

I have been married twice, neither one of them liked me. Am I hard to get along with? Absolutely when your a Mother that still has the umbilical cord attached.
Of course I am the idiot who choose men in this sad condition.
