from wiwi: "Consistent with Japanese folklore, the tanuki (Japanese raccoon dogs, Nyctereutes procyonoides) are portrayed as a highly sociable, mischievous species, which are able to use "illusion science" to transform into almost anything, but too fun-loving and too fond of tasty treats to be a real threat – unlike the kitsune (foxes) and other shape-shifters."
I once heard a really strange old wives' tale about the gender of babies. Supposedly, if during the act of conception the woman . . .how can I put this delicately?. . .achieves satisfaction, then the baby will be a boy. If she does not, then the baby will be a girl. This sounds awfully sexist to me, implying that boys are conceived under more favorable conditions than girls are.
Good choice! Old folks tales, superstitions, kinda makes us wonder how accurate some of those things are?
There might some truth to those superstitions, look at Apollo 13, launched on April 11th, 1970, at 13 hundred hours, the oxygen tank ruptured on the morning of April 13th.
