Default Please be careful. Public Service Announcement

Women of CD. Please be careful in your homes. Be careful who you let in your door.

Have someone with you if you are expecting a service man to your home.

I am talking elec man, telephone man, cable guy, all things of the like.

Of course I post anonymously here and the person I am getting to use as an example is also going to be anon., but it is a true thing that happened.

A patient came into the office on Thursday, having been sexually assaulted by the cable man.

Now, it is not as though he wen't unreported and he is in jail.

He raped this woman, knowing that the company would know it was he who went on that service call, I don't know how he could do this...

He had to know he would be caught... The company knew it was him who would go to this specific house.. they keep these records.

He raped this woman, with no remorse. He sits in jail, she is forever changed now.

She is 2 years older than me, I think.

She knew he was coming. But why would she have to fear a man that was coming to her home, known to her and the company to work on her cable?

She should not have had to. But knowing what has happened to this woman, and to probably many others... I just wanted to share it.

Please be careful of letting people into your home. People are crazy.

You just cannot trust them anymore. It is a dag on shame.

I keep this woman in my prayers. Please do the same, if you are a praying person.

And please protect yourself from this kind of thing.

Ya know,, even the pizza guy could do this.

its not a shock altho a true tragedy.

Hey people thought Ted bundy was a nice guy .

No you can't trust anybody.
I always talk to workers outside, very rarely close the door with them inside, and when they work outside I lock myself in.
The best is to try to arrange then for someone else to be there with you the whole time. I try to schdule any work when my husband is home anyway.

I had a friend once ask me to come over because the (national company) man was coming to fix her refridgerator. This was years ago. I went being just a friend, but thinking she was a little strange to be concerned about this.

After the man left, she said that this man had been to her home before and she had reported him, but when she called for service, he showed up again. I was just a few doors away so when she saw him get out of the truck, she called me to come up. Before, he had asked for her service agreement and when she went to the bedroom to get it, he followed her. It really frightened her. He had made a very suggestive remark to her and she had reported him. But he was still working for them.

Another thing you need to do is always check the locks on doors and windows after service people have been to your home. I have heard about situations where they left a way back in and returned later when the person was not expecting an intruder.

I have heard this too... about people leaving a way for themselves to enter your home at a later time... as a predator.

My Wife has a Black Belt in HapKiDo and she can severely damage any man who tries to assault her.

She is also a crack shot with a .357 magnum revolver, probably a better shot than me, and she has no fear of using it on anyone who tries to attack her in our home.

Fortunately we live in the country where such things are a rarity but we are always aware of our surroundings and the people who visit us.

We also believe that being judged by 12 is far better than being carried by 6.

Good post! Sure pays to be alert. A small town Marshall near here in mid Missouri had repairmen coming to his home for problems with his cable service. His wife had called to report the troubles. Luckily the Marshall was home when they arrived. It turned out that both men had been using some illegal substance and they had some of this stuff in the truck. Their actions and mannerisms led the Marshall to be somewhat suspicious.

The Marshall allowed them to finish the job and then called one of his deputies. Deputy and K-9 friend parked down the street and pulled the guys over and well, they are still guests of the county! Had the Marshall's wife been alone, no telling what these guys might have done.

I applaud you and your wife UncleBatz for your foresight and being prepared!!

That would show a lot of common sense on your part C-C. I love my Wife too much to want to see her harmed by some idiot who wants what we have instead of working for it........and this IS beautiful country...although we "suthern" folks in the rural areas are armed to the teeth...

Thank you for that! Crime is on the upswing, especially home invasions and personal attacks, and I believe this is caused mostly by people on drugs trying to maintain their habits without the resources with which to do so.

Every woman should take a self defense course and every women should carry pepper spray...legal and available everywhere in America.
