You can't! Thanks to new research on this most vexatious blight of mankind, we can now say more or less definitively that the despised cockroach will, in fact, come to rule us all. Because, apparently, they're developing the ability to outsmart our attempts at poisoning them dead. They have evolved to avoid toxic traps!
They were here 350 million years ago, and entomologists believe that they can survive nuclear war.
Stay vigilant, friends!
Yes, they're virtually indestructible. The building where my workplace is located used to have a bad problem with roaches, even though the building isn't that old and it looks clean. A couple of times they've had to spray for bugs, including the roaches. It seems the only surefire way to kill roaches is to step on them.
If you're in an apartment building or otherwise share the walls with someone who is not killing them too, they will just move over there and eventually come back. Your best bet in that case is to move somewhere clean, thoroughly wash everything when you pack, and diligently destroy any crawlies that manage to come with you.
I have not-so-fond memories of our first apartment.
Get some Boric Acid Powder and lightly (very lightly) dust it into the areas around the baseboard and floor, under the sink, in all the cracks and crevasses you see. ...
The dead roaches won’t breed and thus they’re gone. However don’t bring home anymore in cardboard boxes, paper products, sacks etc. Keep the area clean from food wastes so they’re not attracted to your place and they’ll move on to the neighbors apt or house.
AMEN!!!!!!!!
It worked for me in a basement and ground floor apartment infested with roaches and water bugs. I realized they were coming from the landlady's portion of the basement, and I went in and did the number there with boric acid. There were literally hundreds dead all over the place within a week.
She was shocked and couldn't understand how her basement had "suddenly" gotten this plague of water bugs when she had an exterminator every month! Aside from being a total bytch, she was a dumb jackass to boot.
Bottom line: I just did it every couple of months and never had the problem again.
