I collect shot glasses! No, I don't do shots with them, I don't even like shots but when I was about 18, I got my first one from somewhere I went and thought it was cool. So I got a few more in travels and my hobby just grew. I have one from every hotel/casino in Vegas (except the newest ones), I have a few from every other state I've ever been to besides Nevada (about a whopping 15 - 16 states from my own travels), some from places friends and family have traveled (I ask them to get them or they already know they're supposed to contribute to my collection). I have ones from different Hard Rock Cafes, football teams, tall and skinny ones, short fat ones, metal, glass, clear, colored, I even have doubles of some (and yes, I also have "double shots" meaning a shot glass that's double it's size for your extra alcoholic pleasure)....you name it!!!! Honestly, I think one of the only ones I don't have is a NJ one...hmmm weird.
I collected comic books until the kids started coming.
My dad collects antique slot machines and baseball memorabilia
(Cubs & Dodgers). So.. dad I love you very much, your the best,
that makes me your favorite.. right..
i collect shot glasses and magnets from places I've been. Past collections - anything panda bears or Marvin The Martian.
The problem with collections is if you tell people what they are - you get them for EVERY gift-giving occasion!! I used to have Marvin stuff everywhere!! LOL
I also collect shot glasses, but I don't drink, I just like them. I have them from 29 states, Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, Canada and no I have not been to all the places. If you were in my house you would say I collect N.C. stuff I have so much stuff that says N.C. on it.
I collected (not so much anymore) crystals and gemstones. It got to the point where I was getting them from everyone and my collection got kinda big. Same thing happened to my mom... she said: I want Pewter figurines. Well... in a few years, she had to get an enormous curio cabinet to hold them, and then they started flowing out..she finally put out the call..THANKS..but...NO MORE! I don't actively collect anything right now. I'm afraid to say anything because of the tidal wave of stuff that will descend on me if I do...it's all out of love of course, but ...I like my house uncluttered and I've learned if I say I need dishes, I get four sets. When I said I needed a crockpot, I got three. When I said I was going to have to go underwear shopping finally (about 4 years ago as I was still wearing "last-resort" underwear from bootcamp in 1981 with my SSN# stenciled on them, I got piles of underwear. I have so much now that was given to me that my walk-in closet has a whole section of just t-shirts and underwear. When I said I had no formal crystal for fancy dinners in the dining room, I got s h i t l o a d s of it...and I don't even like all of it. If my sister would supply me with her art, in all its forms, I'd collect it. For those who've seen what my sister can do, you'll understand. But...I doubt she'll do that. She has a career and that's part of her income...darn it! Now though when I get asked..."what do you want?" I'm to the point that now I'm shy about saying anything!!! Don't get me wrong! I'm grateful for having family and friends like mine who'd do anything for me, and I for them, but.... sometimes...it's just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much!
I collect Turtles<Maryland Terps>, comic books, old magazines<dates back to 1929-1931 etc.,>baseball cards and World Fair glasses...
My brother went to school there. I have a Maryland Terps shirt that says...well, let's just say I can't wear it in public!
