I like Lone Star Cafe's best nowadays......

though Whataburger is .......
Whataburger has great burgers. But they're only in so many states.

Took this shot at Huey's burgers in Collierville for the "side door" sign.

I love Whataburgers! They remind me of the a place called Doyle's in CA from the 60s.

I also like Five Guys and oddly enough, Braum's. But it's hard to find a place with both good hamburger's and fries.

It's hard to find a good burger joint any more... Back in the 60's we had a dinner those chrome buildings with the pink flamingo trim.. each table had a juke box 25 cent for 3 songs.. best burgers and fries.. and for some reason the Coca-Cola tasted different had a deeper flavor than today... memories

Checker Burgers were pretty good... along with Friendly's Ice Cream Shop... It's a shame that the chain stores some are regional ... East Coast - West Coast.. McDonalds when they were still a little walk up front window like Checker's had a descent burger.
I think a good burger has to be made when needed with a blend of hamburger... some same 60/40 60% high quality meat.. and 40% lower quality with a certain fat % .. lightly packed.. and then thrown on a hot !!! grill and not squashed with the spatula it needs a crust around the out side edge.. now should it be rare or well done.. that's the consumer taste along with the bun... has to be a quality bun hearty.. should it be toasted and buttered with " real butter " again the consumer will decide.. then for topping's .. a "SLAB" of fresh Vidalia Onion a little lettuce.. and some A1 or Ketchup never mustard like I see some people do... and "GOOD" fresh hand battered Onion Rings.. Vidalia and a ice cold Coca-Cola with chocolate cake...

That reminds me....Freddy's are pretty good as I recall. I've heard about five guys and In & Out with differing opinions in our local threads. I had In & Out while in California but forget how they were. We stopped at a Culver's on last vacation. They weren't bad.

This one is from a joint in Pasadena, Cal.

Carl's Jr I think....

BTW, most of my bunch still prefer Whataburgers.
