Funniest: we got married with 40 other couples in a tent at the mall in downtown seattle, the ceremony was officiated by a local radio dj
Craziest: the whole event was also featured on MTV as a part of the Real World: Seattle
Fast forward to Feb. 14, 2008 10th anniversary
I surprised the hubby this morning by leaving a variety of gifts in his truck including a stuffed monkey hung by a heart chain zip tied to his rear view mirror, a "manly" box of chocolates, a set of his and her car coasters and a secret sign stuck to the passenger side of the truck reading "R+S 4ever!" He leaves at 4:30am every day and I know he found the toy and candy but he is in for a real surprise a 4:30pm when it gets off work and finds the sign on the truck.
We are also buying a bulldog for each other to mark the event, her name will be........Valentine.
Well, this Valentine's Day may well be the "cheesiest!" We are having a Valentine's Banquet at church, and my pastor is known for his vintage Elvis Presley imitations! He is going to don a wig and "flashy outfit" and sing "Are you Lonesome tonight?" to the "winning couple!" As an added surprise, my rather staid husband has been recruited to also don a wig and play his viola during the part where Elvis traditionally talks in this song!! Should be priceless!
Shhhhh! No one coming tonight knows about all this! You guys can keep a secret, can't ya??;
Now one of my nicest Valentine's Days was when my son was a two-month old infant. Because of my back problems, my mother was helping me a lot with the baby. My husband brought home a gift for me, a gift for the baby AND a gift for my mother because he knew she'd be there. It was the gift for my mother that won him "brownie points" with me!
The funniest Valetines? The one my loving hubby put off getting a card to the very day of, but I cherish that card with the African American couple on it, really I do!
BTW - we are not an African American couple.
In 2004 this is what I saw when I came downstairs...
That was very cool of hubby to do.
A not so good VD story - I was proposed to about 12 years ago by my boyfriend at the time. It was a strange situation... he was a jerk, but I was going through a bad time, so I stayed with him (for 4 years too long). Anyway, on VD, we went to the mall (how romantic) to buy each other gifts. Ugh. I got him a universal remote (once again, how romantic) and he got me a yellow gold solitaire ring. Had he took about 2 seconds to think of it, he would have remembered that I don't wear gold... all silver (and silvery metals). His actual proposal? - "Well, here you go... will you?"
That was as good as the Christmas before when he gave me a porno and "toy" as a supposed gag gift.
Oh... forgot to mention... I finally wised up and we never got married. Whew!!
What was your best, funniest or craziest Valentines Day ever?
Don't you mean the "Bestest" Karla?
I don't know about the "Best", or "Funniest", but I've had the Craziest Valentine a few years ago.. and I'm not talking about the day itself, I'm talking about the gal.... Craziest would be a good description because she ended up in a mental hospital, and that's because I drove her there... really, I drove her there and dropped her off!
Again, I'm only kidding... Hey it's Valentines, will that spare me from being sent to my room?
32 years of Valintines day with the wife and I can't remenber what I've done other than sending flowers to her at work and taking her to dinner.
We did have a nice dinner at an resterrant one year, it was really cold outside and nobody else wanted to eat on the patio so we did, they surrounded us in heaters and it turned out real nice.
