We use a fake tree. Have for years. One of the last times we had a real one from a Christmas tree farm, we were invaded by ladybugs, (don't know if they were eggs that hatched in the warmer house, or they were hibernating, or what, but the tree was covered with them. Living decoration! ). Actually, I would like to have a real one again, (I remember, as a kid, going out to the woods to cut one down. You bought a cheap permit from the Forest Service, bounced around on the logging roads in the pickup, slogged through snow, up to your backside, froze everything important...aw, those were the days. ).

It will be interesting to see what my new cat does with the Christmas tree. I lost my polydactyl, (extra toes on his front feet. A "Hemingway" cat. ), back in May. He thought the tree was for him. He played with the ribbons and bows, chewing and knocking them off. He played with the ornaments, (which is why I put as many of the cheapie styrofoam ones wrapped with the silky thread, on the bottom branches). He would climb the trunk, and lay on the branches. He also would lay on the tree skirt, and it didn't matter how many presents were on it. He would squeeze in, anyway. And, he was a big cat! I adopted my new cat, from a shelter, about a month after Murphy died. I don't know anything about her background, so I have no idea what her reaction to a tree will be. She has settled in fairly well, over the last few months, (you know, taken over the house ). We'll see how she handles this.
I Love the name Murphy!! I have two girls. Abby and Molly

Ps. For the Record I didn't notice the T.P MoMark.

I do not have the tree up yet but Evey did remind me of a tradition we have started. My lil one is 2 and every year we have purchased a little cypress for him. After the holidays, we plant the tree on his grandparent's property. I have this hang up about traditions so this one was nice for us. The cypress grows so very fast so they get an added benefit!

LOL. It's just that when I see trees and tp so near each other I get flashbacks of my teen years. LOL.

I hope they leave the ornaments alone. Every night they like to find a kid's toy and play soccer across the kitchen floor. It can get pretty loud.
But their so darn cute.

We are getting our tree this weekend. We go to this retired gentleman's house every year. He is about 90 something. He has a tree farm that closed years ago. Not very many people go to see him anymore!.His face lights up when he see's us coming. We get to hike up in his woods (OREGON)and pick any size tree for $10.00.
I have a picture of my cat when she was a kitten, actually IN the tree!! She climbed to the middle and hung out on a branch. I walked by and saw her head sticking out like an ornament!! My daughter wants me to send it in to this Cat Calendar company that is asking for pictures for next years calendar.
Be sure not to put your favorite ornaments close to the bottom.....they like to bat those around!! Have fun getting your tree!!

I would usually have 4 in the tree at once and then the tree gets knocked down. Repeat everyday for a week. But that was my present to them.
I started waiting to decorate it a few days after I got it so they could get it out of there systems. I have really good pictures but they are old and not scanned into the computer yet.

One more pic....since the snow came, I thought it would make a classic photo to take a pic from outside that shows the snow piled on the sill, snow-covered bushes and the lights within! FYI...the TP has been removed....and.... used

Thank you! let me tell you...it took me six months of nearly daily searching to find it! But on a day like today after the big snow... it also means I have to be prepared to go it alone for awhile as I'm stuck out here right now and the snowplows never came today! Thank you for the nice words

I love to be snowed in somewhere providing I still have a source of heat and plenty to eat.On a trip to the North Georgia mountains 1 year,we rented a cabin and it had not snowed on our arrival,2 days later it snowed and we thought we were going to be stuck.I didn't care,I thought it was great.I was amazed though at how well they prepped the Mountain roads. We decided to go to Helen 1 day and had to go up the mountain then back down, never lost traction once.
