Fortunately on the two instances I left the sink and bath overflow on 2 separate occasions, I managed to "unplug" just as the waters were about to overflow - the end result was just the odd small puddle on the floor.
One time at the Y I fell asleep in the tub and it overflowed. Still asleep, I floated out of the tub and bounced down the stairs before someone discovered what was happening and saved me from floating out the front door and getting hit by a bus. Oh my how
Ever cause a flood by forgetting to shut off the bathtub?
I only shower.
But when I moved into my present apartment I did not pay any attention to the terrace off the kitchen, until I woke up one night not too long afterward in the middle of a rainstorm and decided I was hungry. When I turned on the kitchen light, the floor was half flooded.
It was coming in under the terrace door, and I could see to my horror that it was lapping against the glass on the outside. I turned on the terrace light...and in my undies...quickly opened the door enough to rush out before a tidal wave swept in. The drain, which was just to the right of the door was closed over with leaves and moss swept down from the roof. I pulled it off, but I had no choice but to wait in the rain until it drained enough for me to go back in without risking that tidal wave....and there was a lotta lotta water.
And then it was mop-the-kitchen-floor-time.
Since that night I am obsessive about checking the drains on my three terraces.
