I posted this picture in another thread, but I'll go ahead and post it here as well. I'm sure people like AksarbeNl, Power Surge and others who know Phoenix will recognize this landmark. It's a mountain here on the east side of Phoenix called Camelback Mountain, which looks like a camel sitting down on the ground. Believe it or not, I have never been to the top of that mountain, even though I spent pretty much my entire 51 years in Phoenix. I hope to climb it this spring and maybe leave my mark there!

Is that to say another wardrobe malfunction atop the Camelback where the whole “city” will see you? LOL please Mike stop me,,,, I’ll never forget your funny story about the conference room ~ it reminds me of something that would have happened to me.

That’s a great shot of the mountain and as you said, it looks more like a Camel from the ground level.

Another view of the Camelback with the “praying monk” on the head of the camel.

Interesting that with all the mountains in Phoenix, we don’t have any ski resort areas yet! LOL

LOL... no AksarbeN, when I leave "my mark" on Camelback, it wouldn't be a "Wardrobe Malfunction". Whenever I hike up North Mountain or Shaw Bute, I usually take plenty of water with me, so after a while, that water has to go somewhere....

Good pictures of Camelback Mountain and the Praying Monk.

Well... one time, in December of 2003, I did "ski" down Shaw Butte, and without skis, just running shoes! I was coming down from the western side of the slope, and there was one section that was pretty steep and had a lot of loose gravel and rocks. It was getting close to sunset, and I wanted to be down in the parking area by 19th Ave shortly after dusk. I was trying to maintain my balance, but I couldn't so I ended up skiing.. or sliding down that steep section over loose gravel and dirt for about 20 or 25 feet and ended up falling on my rear. I guess you can also say it was the only hike that was a "pain in the butt".. or a pain in the Butte(??)

If you stop at Circle K on 19th Ave & Cactus, you'll see the steep section close to the top of the western part of the Butte.
