too funny. Have to give you a gold star for the effort. I gave up after one try.

those are the ones. The key adjusted the length. I had to share with my sister, so I was always adjusting them. They were great going down the sidewalk especially when you hit the cracks. No helmets and knee pads in those days either. Finally got a pair of white boot type ones with the accessory pink fuzzy balls you tied to the front. Those were too cool.

The key also was used to clamp the front onto your shoes. If you look real close in the picture you can see where the key fit on to tighten the clamps.

blue62...great and funny story. At least you had the nerve to try! I just know I'd break something if I tried. Don't know why tho', since I've tried so many other things.

And yes, using our imaginations as children...what a wonderful 'invention'. lol...Our sons learned to play sports and would get hurt in the process at times. But they never gave up and the have taught their sons 'how' to play. We even have a large tree that had fallen, during a storm a few years ago, in our yard that the boys always play on, climb, and jump off of.

Ah, OK - thanks. I remember going over the cracks - "ba DUM ba DUM ba DUM" - you'd take the skates off and for an hour more you'd feel "ba DUM ba DUM"

But blacktop was smooth and comfortable!

I'll be darned, you're right! How come I don't remember doing that? Maybe we just set it once and jammed our sneaks into it...

Remember when you skated for a long time and stopped, took off the skates and your feet tingled?

Yes!

I think it's the same principle as those machines they used to have in the arcades - you stand on a platform, drop your dime and they'd vibrate your feet.
