[b]Today's Question(s):
Did your home(s) have air conditioning when you were growing up?

If not, how did you survive?

How else do you keep cool:
-Open a window?
-Use a fan?
-Awnings on your house, its windows or over a deck or patio?
-Other?

I didn't grow up with air conditioning. July and August were pretty tough. I remember lying on the bed in the middle of the night and feeling hot, sweating.

The fans ran during the night. The house had porches--first and second story on the back.

When I was little, there was a huge, old tree in front of the house. It died. It was never the same after that.

I've had central air on and off since the 80s. The couple of times I didn't, it wasn't hot enough to be an inconvenience.

Today's Question(s):
Did your home(s) have air conditioning when you were growing up? no - only a window unit in my parents room

If not, how did you survive? it was an old brick house with trees nearby and good cross ventilation - when that wasn't enough, we had fans

Do you have air conditioning now and, if so, what temperature do you like to set it on? yes. It's rarely on - usually just to cool down some overnight. You guys would have a fit if I told you what temp - it's pretty warm still

How else do you keep cool:
-Open a window? yes
-Use a fan? sometmes but I usually forget
-Awnings on your house, its windows or over a deck or patio?
-Other? cool water on my pulse points

Bonus:
Something breakable: hearts - sorry, it was my first thought

Something lucky: me - I've been pretty lucky in my life

Something that made you dizzy: dunno why but this is a thing for me sometimes

Foodie Q:
Last food or drink you mixed or blended? spinach and rice - mixed it together

Just for fun:
If you ever called in sick when you weren't, what's something you did instead? oh hell yeah I have. Just stayed home

Today's Question(s):
Did your home(s) have air conditioning when you were growing up?
We had window units.

If not, how did you survive?
Open windows before the window units were needed.
Once it was warm enough we used fans to blow cooler air from rooms with units to those without.

Do you have air conditioning now and, if so, what temperature do you like to set it on?
You bet! It's usually on 72.

How else do you keep cool:
-Open a window? Almost never these days.
-Use a fan? Still useful at times.
-Awnings on your house, its windows or over a deck or patio? Don't, but I see them on older homes. Darn useful things, if you ask me.
-Other? Go for a swim.

Bonus:
Something breakable: Dishes.

Something lucky: A break.

Something that made you dizzy: Amusement park rides.

Foodie Q:
Last food or drink you mixed or blended?
Iced tea with
Coke Zero for the sweetener.

Just for fun:
If you ever called in sick when you weren't, what's something you did instead?
Went out on an 'adventure,' a day road trip with a good lunch somewhere.

Thanks, everyone, for chipping in. Enjoy the weekend!
