I totally understand. I'm a rather "social" person but can be a bit shy. I have family that moved to Florida as it had always been their dream to retire to Florida. Within a year and a half their house was up for sale and they came back, they had not one friend when they moved there and were never able to make any while there and most of the people in the neighborhood were retired. My uncle refers to them as all old crabby people that complained about everything. LOL!!! They ended up buying a house very near me this summer and have already made lots of friends. Granted they are retired but still there has been plenty for them to do as some of their "retired" neighbors still "piddle" or work some. This past weekend they had a progressive Christmas dinner w/ most of them in their neighborhood and ended up staying at their house till right at 1 in the morning .
Hopefully it will be easier once you move and you can get a great group of friends together for any and all occassions.

Well, we can never get a babysitter because everyone else goes out...so unless someone surprises us with a sitter..we are going to sit in, have a few beers, play some games like Taboo, let the kids stay up and that's that. Make a resolution that I probably won't keep.

It's pretty much just like any other nights for us. We rarely stay up till midnight.
But we do eat blackeyed peas on New Years Day.
Hey LoveBoating, why did you stop saying The Wife and I, I thought that was cute.

The church we chose to go to has a group of folks our age, but they just don't like to do the things we do. A lot of them are already retired and travel a lot. They even have their weekly meeting on a Friday morning. My wife and I are at work then! Hopefully, when we move to NC, we will be able to meet some really nice people and make good friends.

Where are you moving to in NC?

Yep, those darn babysitters leave us high and dry on New Years Eve. I knew the minute I had my oldest that day our celebrations were over with. When she was younger we could take her to lunch anywhere she wanted to go then take her to my parents to spend the night. Now that she knows that is her birthday........ well, let's just say we are the hosts for all New Years Eve/Birthday parties for her for a LONG TIME! I have about 8 more years to go till she will probably be on her own for that night .

You guys have fun as well. YES, Disney is absolutely beautiful and "magical" at this time of year. We've done Disney in the past at Christmas and loved it. Universal and Sea World at Christmas will be new for us, so my wife, 2 sons (13/11), and I are looking forward to it.

Well, we usually throw a big party for New Years Eve. Everybody that attends must either stay, or leave by cab. Keys are collected at the bar (which I tend). We care to much for our friends to have them on the road on a night like that. Also my 17 y.o. stays home and we allow his friends to attend, but they get a band or a stamp, (last year on the forehead) and thier beverages are checked regularly! Again they must come to the bar which I guard ! I love being the bartender that night. My husband usually cooks. Last year we had 500 clams, burgers, dogs, salads, crabs, pretty much everything made by hand, oh yeah and Rum Runners !
Since we recently relocated ??????? I have not a clue. We have talked about having another one, as we have a few friends here. It will probably be smaller though. Then again, I might just want to take a break. We usually go ALL OUT, and its alot of work, and usually doesn't get completely cleaned up the next day ! Always exciting though.
One of the things holding me back this year is, I don't know how willing our friend will be to stay the night. Here, they are mostly construction men, stubborn.
I guess I will make the decision soon.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to ALL !
