Default Plans For New Year's Eve Night?

For us........stay at home and off of the streets/freeways! Maybe some hot popcorn, couple of Coors Light beers and a shot of Tequila. After that, in bed before midnight. We are "early to bed, early to rise" people.
New Year's Eve "Party Night" isn't the way it was for us 20 years ago!

Same thing I do for the 4th of July and during any thunderstorms. Taking care of my dog who does not like fireworks or thunderstorms.

Default Not sure yet!

I have become addicted to an 80s cover band (yeah, I know...!). I go see them every week, and pay only the $10 cover charge. Of course, on NY Eve everything is more expensive. $60 to see them that night! I doubt that the show will be six times as good as a regular night... But it's New Year's Eve, and I'm tempted. *sigh*

If I don't go see them, I'll probably just stay home. I'm not much of a party animal!

Go to the Dallas Stars hockey game and then come home w/ hubby, 1 daughter and 3 of her friends. Leave them at our house and go across the street to neighbors to have some adult time. Kids stay at our house and watch movies. Wander across the street sometime around 1 or 2, tell the kids to turn everything off and go to sleep. LOL!!!! Only have these kids as it is my oldest childs birthday and she wants to go to the hockey game w/ friends and have them spend the night. The morning she was born on the 31st I knew our NYE's were over with for a LONG TIME!

Get up the next day, wake up kids, make them get ready and pick up while I fix their breakfast. Out the door they go and in the oven the ham goes. Fix a full blown meal w/ all of the traditions that must be on the table for New Years Day. Then all of MY friends and their families start showing up for our annual New Years Day Lunch.

We're going to Orlando the day after Christmas and will be at either Universal or Sea World New Year's Eve. We're really looking forward to it!

We usually alternate. We stayed home last year, so maybe we will do something this year. We now live near a time change borderline, and I heard that there is a taxi service that picks you up a a local bar after the first midnight toast, takes you across the line to another bar to the next midnight toast.
I know. Cheap thrills. Not exactly an elegant evening out.

Boy, we must live in a "stuffy" (snobby?) type neighborhood! None of our neighbors are that friendly/nice. Besides that, we are 25+ yrs. older than most of our neighbors!
Now, the New Years Day Lunch sounds GREAT.
Just out of curiousity, how old are you/hubby? We are 57/58. The "MY" friends that you have coming over (w/their families), are these people that you know from your daughters school, church or ??? We are just wondering because we have had a major problem making friends where we live. We don't know if it's my personality (outgoing, funny, kind of mouthy,) that scares many people away or my wife who can be "too" quiet around people and that scares people off.
Please tell us what you think. Thanks

It'll be a nice relaxing, long weekend spent with a few friends at my girl's beach house in the Outer Banks. No kids, crowds, etc. just good food, good beverages , and good conversations. It has become an annual tradition once we all got older and the bar crowds got younger

LOL!!! Well, most of our friends are 35+ all the way into the 50's. We are 40+. These "friends", well we know them from everywhere, former neighbors, new neighbors, used to go to church with, go to church with now, go to our kids schools, etc. We've all become good friends. Our good friends from different areas of our life get to meet each other and become friends, we are all kinda like that. LOL!!! I'm outgoing, got some outgoing friends, some that are shy, but pretty much everyone likes to be around friends. We all have get togethers at our houses and see a different group of people all the time but we all know each other. It is VERY hard for us to go anywhere and not run into someone we know or are friends of ours or friends of friends of ours. This get together will be a family one so kids and all come. We had a huge crawfish boil this summer and a house, yard and pool full of friends. I love it.

momof2dfw:
Thanks for the info! We have been told before that it is hard to make friends when people are in their later 50's and up. My wife has a few "girl" friends at work that she has lunch with, but they have absolutely no interest in what she (we) do away from work. The church we chose to go to has a group of folks our age, but they just don't like to do the things we do. A lot of them are already retired and travel a lot. They even have their weekly meeting on a Friday morning. My wife and I are at work then! Hopefully, when we move to NC, we will be able to meet some really nice people and make good friends.
