Actually when I was a kid a was constantly told to "turn the other cheek." That has stuck with me since I was bullied no end and kept turning the other cheek, until one day I snapped and let the bully have it and then some! Now I never turn the other cheek, I try and face everything head on and stand up for myself.

When I was 19 (in 1976) my father was telling me about the years it can take to build something good with education, career and hard work, but everything can be destroyed in a quick instance if we're not careful, and as an example, he used a skyscraper, and the years it can take to put up such a building, but all that can be destroyed in a relative instant, if something wasn't done right, because it takes much less effort to destroy something than to build it.
I definitely thought about that after the tragic events of September 11th, 2001.

God has spoken to me so many times through this verse and especially since I was laid off in 2004. It encourages me to read this.
