Thank you, Ms.Charlotte - I remember the last dress she was making for Christmas 1981 - she had bought this pretty purple zig-zag shaped hemming tape and I still have it :-) Great memories!

TV's and laptops just don't fall into the "must have/can't-live-without" category for me.

My box of pictures. It has pictures from when I was a little girl, to my wedding. I would be so upset if I ever lost them.

Yes- I will not sugar-coat it- Tenn is rural- though I am in a 50,000 plus city- It is northeast- so doesnt really have that "southern" feel to it (althought that is here too-if you want it) -many people from New Jersey Fl, KY even CA are moving here.I am in a nice quiet suburb.

That being said, there are beautiful parts of FL (NW)----- Broward and Palm Beach County IMHO, have seen their heyday and are on the decline. I would NEVER live in those 2 counties for all the tea in China.

I would just hope people (unless they are retired) do SERIOUS research on florida before moving- it is changing in some areas-not for the better.

sunny

I am so very sorry about your mother. From the way you talk, you two were very close, and I know you miss her very much. My mother and I are very close, she is my best friend, and like your mother, she sewed things for me when I as little. One day, I will inherit her sewing box as well. She still loans me her very old thimble sometimes. It is probably 50 years old.

tnvolfan1971 is on a distinguished road
I have mainly 2 things I would never want to part with. I have a stuffed teddy bear that was given to me when I was 6 weeks old. "Marvin" is now 35 and has seen better days, but I still hang onto him. The second item is a pipe that belonged to my grandfather. I have fond memories of him and his brother sitting on my grandparents front porch after a long hard day working on the farm and relaxing by smoking their pipes with freshly cured tobacco straight from the barn. I love the smell of a pipe to this day because of this.

Charlie, Peka, Innis, Alex, and KatyPuff, my four dogs and my Cat.
With all the hurricanes we have had in Florida I have mentally packed and repacked what I would take and how I would. The pets have always been first.

Has anyone parted with something, only to realize later they should never have let it go? Several years ago, when we were moving from CA to MA, we had a yard sale. In haste, I sold my dad's old Rolling Stones LP's, that dated from arond the time I was born. One of them had hot pink nail polish my Mom has spilled on the cover, like in 1970. After the records were gone, I couldn't believe I had been so foolish. Both my parents were gone, and it was the only thing I had that was theirs. I think about those records all the time, and how I made such a stupid mistake.

I know I've done things like that many times over. Grrr! I imagine we all have.
