The first McDonalds went up in a California City that I lived in for 30 years.
San Bernardino, Ca.
And it's still there. It was built there because RT66 was a main drag through San Bernardino at the time.

Drive-ins and Car hops.

You might want to save this documentary on Burger town.

It's 47:00 min long, but full of memories.

I used to live on Route 66 in Monrovia CA. I also traveled some on Route 66 before the interstate highway system was completed.

Another good "I remember......"

I remember when a cross country trip took you through the downtown sections of major cities, complete with traffic lights on every corner.

Old Route 66 (The Mother Road) runs from Santa Monica, Ca. all the way to Chicago, Ill.

When I moved to Oklhoma, I took old RT 66 (one sraight shot) from SanBerdo, Ca all the way to Oklahoma City.

So why did you join in? Start your own thread as a 19 year old looking back. Oh, wait, you've done that several times already.

We read Alice, Jerry and Jip in the mid-60s. Jip was a little brat of a dog that ran away from Alice and Jerry all the time. The first grade reader had pictures instead of words for some thing; I remember some story or another about Alice and Jerry feeding pictures of crackers to some ducks. I'm surprised Jip hadn't chased the ducks away.
